I need help deciding on a Karaoke Format.

Post subject:  I need help deciding on a Karaoke Format.
I run a small Pro sound company that also rents PA systems. I have been looking to get in to the Karaoke rental market and I'm having trouble trying to decipher all of the different formats. I'll be using my existing sound systems and need to add player.I've been looking at the RSQ Neo system and they seem to make sense since I would only have to bring a 4 or 5  Neo+G Discs to hold thousands of tunes. I won't be directly operating the system so I'm trying to figure out the most user friendly system to use while at the same time being conscious of the price of songs and the amount of discs I would need to transport. I would appreciate any help you can give me.

If it was me providing the rental, Then I would do it with regular cdg discs, just a basic sets say maybe the chartbuster  Essentials with four books.  I wouldn't want to risk the renters damaging a disc containing thousands of songs. But that is just me.

Go with this 1 I've been useing it for about 2 years 4 to 5 days a week and absolutely no problems and very eaqsy to use and no disks required. but it will play disks if they have them. http://www.acekaraoke.com/acesonic-kod- ... layer.html

Just make sure with a player like this you have all the discs that are loaded into the player PER player maning if you run more players, you better have a separate set of discs for each player because the hard drive systems may or may not be tested in court for copyright infringment - not even sure about the added legalities to a rental hard drive system.

I think if you're going to go hard-drive based, you should use a computer.  If you use an old computer and your clients kill it you're not out much except the pain of re-ripping the disks.  Also, they get automated rotation sorting and that sort of thing.  I too wonder about the legallity of renting any sort of karaoke disk or hard drive.

It comes pre loaded with 1920 Songs  Sweet Georgia Brown 66 Discs and the disks are included. It's good enough for a rental for parties. If you want better disk selections they will pre load it and send the original disks with it. It's a no brainer. pretty much idiot proof.
