House speakers are Yamaha Club V's.
If I cable them to chain, (2X8ohms) net result should be 4ohms.
Now if I use this chain on one side of my amp. can I still use only 1 8ohm speaker as a "singer's monitor"?
Once the EQ/voice/track is in balance, I could use the left/right balance to set volume levels on each with the main gain overall.
My $money$ question is: will running 8ohms on one channel and 4ohms on the other cause amp. problems?

You didn't say what power amp you have. If it is rated at 4 ohms and you don't run it bridged mono, keep it stereo. You should be ok. I am using a Carvin DCM 4000 and i run two at 4 ohms, and two at 8 ohms.

The DCM4000 is equivalent to 2 DCM2000. 2 separate amps in one chassis.
Most pro-power amps today can handle a mismatched load like that, but like stated you didn't mention what model amp it was. A home stereo amp would not be able to handle the mismatched load.
