Let me explain some things.
I live 20 miles outside of a major city. 99% 0f my karaoke jobs are in a 20-25 mile circle around my house. That's 40-50 miles across. That circle includes at least 100 or more KJs. It's possibly a lot more, for sure.
For the last 14 years I have heard about many KJs. These complaints have come from singers in that 50 mile circle. These singers have seen many different KJs in that 50 miles and 14 years, as have I.
I am always being told about KJs that have;
1. crappy sounding systems,
2. play dance music, (Messes with the rotation in their eyes)
3. play favorites in the rotation,
4. KJs that sing way too much.
These are complaints from singers about other KJs. I'm not making these up. If they COMPLAIN it means they don't like it.
One or more of these could be you. None of them are me. These are the KJs that the singers really don't want to go to. Why do they tell me? Because I don't fall in to any of theses items. Maybe you don't hear about these things because nobody wants to tell you about them, because you do them too much. They don't want to tell you, you suck. I will never be accused of any of these things.
I work every Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday. All solid karaoke music.

I know who Big Dog really is. A politician. That explains his inability to give a straight answer to a straight question.
One last time. BD are you listening, I hope so. Here's the question as straightforward as can possibly be?
Big Dog those of us on this board would like to know where and when your shows are. The bar names, addresses, including cities. It really isn't that hard.

I get these complaints too - That doesn't surprise me.
They come to an all karaoke bar because that is what they like.
Now if you go to a bar that has music and karaoke those people complain about
the karaoke bars that won't play music.
Your area is obviously suited for an all karaoke line up. It is funny how I live close to a major city also and my radious is about the same. I can still do all karaoke in the bars here also. But not all areas are the same as ours.

Only reason one wouldn't want to promote his own shows is because he really has no shows to promote, again, talks alot or in his case, BARKS alot!
99% of people in business would jump at the chance to promote their business to people looking for that kind of a show on a forum dedicated to karaoke.

I live in the busy part of our city, our club is kind of tucked in the midst of a couple cities. I'm starting to get more & more frequently people asking for regular music. I try to explain that we are a karaoke bar & I would try to find someone to sing the song - especially if it's a busy night, they are usually ok with that answer, but like I said, it's happening more frequently.
The only "dance" songs I play per se are something like the Electric Slide, Strokin', Cha Cha Slide, etc...& YES, these ARE requested by the singers. I will only play them if I have time in the night, no more than 2 songs & no more than once per night.

It may be he is afraid you all will come to his show and hurt it in some way. By bashing him to the regulars & owner or maybe he is afraid of bodily harm. He has not been very popular around here.
Typing that it really sounds far fetched.
BD why don't you let them know?

Lon the first time the best looking lil gal sticks her face in yours and says do you have any spanish dance music? And you blurt out I got tejano I got new mexico wat u want? She says reggae you do a search and she says that one....And when you finally get to it and her husband and her get on the dance floor and the whole bar comes to a stand still watching and cheers it becomes a weekly event.. !0 singers they dance every rotation...And it depends on the size of rotation...You been there I know....

I can be the best foot surgeon in the world. If my cliental starts to get too small or if they request it often, I can always start to do brain surgery. If that doesn't work I can be a tree surgeon. Hey they all have tools that cut. Chain saw, scalpel, toe nail clippers. All the same.
So KJ-DJ-VJ..... Just keep trying, sooner or later you will find something you're good at.
I have no jobs. Nothing I say makes any sense unless you are a KJ. Any here? I have been having a dream :asleep: for the past 14 years. I dreamt I was in a Hollywood Movie and that I was the star of the movie...This really blew my mind.
Had only 50 people tonight. :( 20 were singers. :D Not one request for a dance song. I screwed up. That "No" web site is killing me. It is Tuesday. I'll bet the rest couldn't find me. Yeah that's it, they couldn't find me.
You couldn't handle being at one of my shows. The lack of dance/filler music would make you crazy. You wouldn't know how to act without a stage or lights. The continuous karaoke music nonstop, without dead air and waiting for the next singer to arrive, would really get on your nerves. I wouldn't want to be responsible for what might happen to you. I know you wouldn't know how to handle a $600 microphone. You never have. LMAO I don't want to teach everyone all of my patented techniques for successful karaoke. That, you really couldn't handle. My superb mixing abilities and tricks. My jokes, props and the way I work the crowd. You would spread these across the country like wild fire. My karaoke income would be in jeopardy. The karaoke world would be turned upside down. Thousands of "me" running the worlds best karaoke at every job, shore to shore. It's too much responsibilty for me to except. I'm not that strong. The dance crowd would want to kill me. I'd have to live in seclusion the rest of my life. Wearing a fake nose and glasses. Karaoke (KJ) protection program. Thousands of greatful karaoke singers all over the country would be looking for me to thank me. Happy Bar owners would be on the lookout for me. I'd be hiding from everyone. Worse than Elvis. All of the newly successful KJs that quit playing dance music, would be throwing money at my feet. I can't take it. I can't.
So to answer your question about all of my imaginary jobs. No...... I can not reveal that information. For the above reasons. Somethings are better left unsaid. It's for the good of the nation and the entire entertainment world. To prevent kaos and lawlessness. You'll thank me for being selfish, someday. :D

I'm confused You don't want to reveal where you work because

but I don't understand what you just said ^up there.

All talk no proof. That's pretty sad in reality, but living in a dream state, he'd never know.

there was a guy that lived in Texas... was a member here and in Singer's Showcase. Constantly talked about how he was the best thing since sliced bread...
Was finally booted from here.
I have ALWAYS distrusted folks online that won't give their personal info, or at least a website. Especially if you're a KJ.

Actually ive been to one of "Big Dogs" shows and it was just as he says it is.
In three hours only once was there no karaoke because the poor guy finally had to take a break to use the restroom and his break only lasted about 10 minutes.
Then it was back to nothing but karaoke until the place closed somehwere around 3am i think it was.
Knowing the area...I too will not say where it is because i understand why Big Dog is keeping it a secret LOL
The place im talking about is a tourist area which stays packed almost all year round and yes his shows are awsome!!
My wife and i even went to his store and bought a few things :D
Big Dog had made some real valid points.....Meaning My wife and I and our kids and our friends stopped going to the karaoke shows where we live because of the very things that Big Dog has talked about!!
We would rather drive 2hours to go to his shows than to drive 10 minutes from our house to go to a show that is full of the crap that Big Dog has mentioned.
Sorry Big Dog....I know you dont know me, But i think your CooL!! and your shows are hard to beat!!!.... only the best out there can compare to you buddy :hi5:
Sorry folks im just being honest LMAO
And if i were Big Dog i wouldnt tell any other kj's about this area either....Id keep all that money to myself too :D

Here's the breakdown on singing vs dance music.
Karaoke music--
90% standard karaoke music(cw, classic rock, standards, blues etc R & B) is whats actually sung.
10% or less of mainstream rap/hip-hop or heavy metal/hard rock is actually sung.
Dance music
top 40 or oldschool hip-hop/rap among younger crowd
CW, classic rock, disco among older crowd
But they will dance to most anything if it has a good fun dance beat.

So Big Dog definitely IS a guy! Then why is there a "female" symbol under Big Dog's avatar?

Matt, that sounds like someone on that other forum where we both go. (no, not you or Kevin) This guy isn't from Texas, though, so I know it's not him.
