Can you tell me why my buddy is out there right now shaving his horse's legs with a dull old disposable razor?....I ain't kidding, there is a legitimate answer to the question.

I think for the same reason we cut the long hair on cows tails .. So they didnt get a bunch of little mud balls on the hairs.  One time is all it takes wen a cow slaps you along side the head with them LOL

That's a good answer, but in this case he was removing horse bot fly eggs....Little yellow suckers that were stuck to his legs like lice eggs do.

Karaoker, hang some jingle bells on their neck.....And then ease them up thru all their gaits....Stop when you get that rocking chair feel in the saddle, and then watch that horse start to bob his head to the tune and step in time with the bells.

The bells signal a rythm to the horse....when he is stepping right for you, reign him in a little and he will learn to rack to the tune of the bells....Take a look next parade and you will see bells on breast collars...That's what they are for....Not every horse in the parade needs them cause the other horses nearby will cue off them too.

Watch the high steppers and how their ears point toward the belled horse.

Ain't it neat the way you can see yourself in a horse?....By the way he points his ears at you and the reflection you see of you in his eyes.

Yep, if you can get a horse to trust you and respond to you, then you are safe around people.
