Guy's, How do you size a traditional Western hat ? I haven't a clue.... Aren't they sized something like 6.5-7.25 ? How do you calculate what hat-size you are ? What's the formula ? I'm a yankee up here in CT. yet my hair's thinning, I need to start thinking about hat's. Rug's are rediculous .

Futurity is a Cutting horse show that goes on late november early december. the breders basically show what their horses can do in a competition setting. prospective buyers can buy the horses once they've shown. there's alot of stuff to do around the show grounds, too. arts/crafts, big rig haulers, stock trailers, tack, and other realted things are for sale as well

Hats are WEIRD...my Navy white hats (the Dixie Cup) are 7 3/4...I have another hat that's 7 7/8, my Stetson (lost in the move :( ) was 7 3/8. So try 'em until you find one that fits.
Um...Steve? You do realize...this is almost A YEAR away?

yeah, dave, but it's never too early to plan. what a great christmas gift! hehehehe
on that note i think this is kinda on topic. one time i was up there with a buddy, i think i told you we stay at the stockyard hotel. anyway, we're in the bar, decked out of course and half lit. these chick are in there from somewhere north of the border. anyway, THEY start buying US drinks. we're all getting pretty good and soused, and when i get to drinkin' i have to sing. there was no karaoke, so me and my buddy start singing whatcha gonna do with a cowboy at the top of our lungs. they were so impresed they invited us up to their room!

Steve, That's another thing.. I haven't a clue as to whether or not I can even get by wearing a hat. This is new, I inherited some Eddie Bros hat with an elaborate feather hatband years back...Hatband is elaborate, really nice looking...Yet it just sit's in the hatbox.. This is something very new to me.. Another thing I know NOTHING about... with the exception of what little I've read.. Yet I know depending on fabric and make Stetson has a VAST array of makes and price ranges... As to what's in style....I have NO clue...I don't even know if the one sitting in my closet fits. Just wondering if a 6 or 7 refer's to diameter of head ? or like Jean's..... isn't a woman's "6", a unisex 26 jean, etc ? The "20" in front of the number is implied. Or if it's some unique measurement form, that requires measuring head circumference with a tape measure, and dividing..... I'll look this up on the internet..
Karyoker !!! I see you, you'd know this ! hehe

the 20 is probably the X number such as a 4X, 20X, 200X etc. that basically let's you know how fine the pelt is that was used on your hat if it's a felt or it indicates the weave on a straw. the size of the hat itself is generally on a tag on the inside. as for the crease, that's all preference. i wear a cattleman's crease with a pretty flat brim and sharp turns on the corners in my felt, but my straw is called a granger crease and the brim is a little more curved. just hit a hat store, try some on and decide what you like from there. they can get pretty pricy, so be sure you like your look and DON'T SETTLE! another piece of advice, don't get a wool or faux felt. they look like crap and they fall apart. it's just not worth it. i wear a 20X most of the time and it suits me. i have a 200X, but that only somes out during the rodeo gala, the cowbo christmas ball and a few other special engagements. if you take good care of your hat, you can wear it a long time.
if you don't find a hat that looks good, then don't get one. bald is in right now anyway
