Will never have fleas. (flies, yes, fleas, no....)

Gawd, lemme leave you crazy people.......
No dog, no cat.... have you all NEVER been to a livestock auction? Geez Louise, they don't sell dogs n' cats there. LMAO
And, I'm most dissapointed to say...... No Waylon either. You tell me where I can go to an auction & legally buy one of those...... and I'm there. :dancin:

OK, so much for the bear cub thought.
You didn't get a donkey, sheep, goat....only thing left you might get at a live-stock auction is a cow. But it's probably a sheep, they don't shed, right ?
Charmin had a little lamb. little lamb, little lamb
It's a lamb, cute !

Okay, guys........ meet "Merle". He was still half asleep when I took his pics, and didn't wanna get up. (he's not a morning person, and wont get up usually in the morning until he sees a bottle in my hand) LOL
Isn't he cute? Yup, I rescued a little dairy calf. (which, yikes, someday will turn into a big raging bull.... kinda like marriage all over, I never learn, do I?) :D

Well, go figure nobody was guessing that, until Kappy did right at the last. When I hear the word "livestock auction"... the very first thing I think of are cows. Of course, maybe that isn't something that happens alot where you all live.
Sheep? Ostrich? Rabbit? Cat? Dog? Goat? hahahahaha...... I really thought you would guess long before the pics.
The local dairies breed their cows.... for just the milk. (of course) So, once a week they pull all the calves that were born that week, except any more cows they wish to keep and raise for milk cows.... and they haul them off to the auction. Bad thing is, alot of them won't make it. It's alot of work to get one to survive- cause they are more or less yanked off the mother right at birth. Lots of bottle feeding, and meds, and all that good stuff. So I like to rescue one... I did this with a cow about 4 years ago, this time I chose a bull. Then when they get big, I just resell them. (I have no intention of being a cow rancher, haha, I just like to save one) :D

THEY don't shed ?????
I would have thought of a cow, but that's not easier around here to get zoned for than a horse. I didn't think you were farm zoned. Those get big ! and you need specific type, height, and area fencing around the animals perimeter, not to mention you need some type of barn.... I didn't think you had any of that. Of course you live out west in one of them there liberal states. Maybe that critter is classified as a bird out there LOL

Actually, I'm in a wierd zone. It's farmland area, but town is closing in. As of this moment, I'm still outside the urban growth boundary. And I spent tuesday afternoon and evening building a corral and a stall. LOL I was totally not prepared to bring an orphan calf home.
As soon as he is weaned from the bottle, and can graze on his own & be out of danger, he'll go to my mom's. She lives in the mountains on 5 acres, and has lots of fenced & cross fenced pasture. But.... she couldn't handle the bottle feedings & medicating him, she's not home often enough to do that.
But, no, this area is not like Portland or anything like that. Lots of farms & such around here, nobody will freak about having a calf in my back yard. LOL

Charmin is right. Our Canby area is kind of unique because it's pretty close to Portland, yet there's countryside and farms all around it. Charmin's place is in that transitional area between "downtown" Canby and the countryside. Nobody would bat an eye about having a little livestock at her place. At the place I'm at, a mile or so away, you'd have a police car here by the end of the day. LOL

You were able to build one THAT quickly ? I wouldn't be able to make anything in that time that resembles a corral on a smaller scale, with Lincoln logs.
Did you order one from Sears ? One of those Aluminum Craftsman Corral's ?

Quote: Wait! Look at her avatar....Do you see what I see?
Yeah, but Charmin has too much color in her skin complexion. She's got the Michael Jackson "Curl" going, but Michael Jackson's facial features were formed from one of those cardboard wheels where you can mix and match features, or "Dial-a-pus". Just a bad Mr. Potato head project basically !
I think MIchael Jacksons' facial appearance was formed by some plastic surgeon who's kindergartner won the award for most creative androgenous Hominid. Sort've an anthropology experiment dating back to the neo-australopithecine period.
