Yeah kenny isnt very cute to me.. his face looks like a pigeon (for lack of better description)...
But I dont know who those Canadians are but if you have a website for them, please share... Im interested in hearing what we are missing with those guys!!
Another one who I dont care much for... well, i like her, but i think she is an average singer... thats Sara Evans... Shes good but again, nothing to write home about vocally. I think she has pretty good songs and that has helped her but I dont think she is amazing or anything. But, ya need some average singers on the charts to balance things out too... They cant all be Martina even though it would be nice!
A unique voice is something that I look for when listening to a singer and one of my favorite singers is Anastacia, and she isnt hugely popular in the US even though she is from here. She was originally a winner on the show on MTV called The CUT, back a few years... from there, she was offered a contract but turned it down because they wanted her to changer her style and do things THEIR way and so she went over seas, got a contract in europe and is now HUGE all over the world.... She has songs out in the US but donest promote herself here like she does there and its a shame because I love her voice... its very different. She was part of the Diva's Live thing too... so ppl do know her here but she is HUGE overseas more than here.
You can go to www.anastacia.com and check her out too if you want.
She is pop... not country, by the way.
But another great singer is Trisha Yearwood... She is a classic when it comes to her voice style. I mean, she is unique, but not overly unique, she is just a solid singer with great range and tone... very pretty voice.
My sister has the gift of having a voice very similar to hers... my sister can SANG! I have her demo on cassette from years ago (my sister) but I need to find a way to get it on the comp.
Ok, im done writing a book...

ohh Trisha Yearwood's voice.... You described it perfectly when u said "SOLID" just awesome. So strong, but so relaxed at the same time. LUVS IT!
as fer Anastasia..... eehhh... not a fan... She's a little to harsh fer me I guess.. Just ma opinion..
Here's the wesites for ma two canadian boys:

OMG those guys are GREAT! They need to get their butts to Nashville... I will personally show them around
Ok, now I have 2 more cd's on my xmas list for santa!!
Thanks Crystal for introducing me to those two Canadian Cowboys! They certainly are easy on the eyes as well!
And yeah, I guess Anastacia is an acquired taste. I just love her though... I like her songwriting, she has some real talent.
Peace, Love and Merry Christmas!

yaaay! Glad ya liked 'em!! !
Adam Gregory actually went to school with some friends of mine.... I've met him quite a few times.... chatted him up... he's the most down-to-earth person.... So I'm SOO glad I got him another fan!! YAAAY!
Here's a little story about him....and the foundation....
There's a little girl who had a terminal disease (can't remember what it was, now) who's was in a wheelchair..... her dying wish was to meet Adam, so he came to her house, picked her up, and took her shopping. Then he invited her to his CD release party even tho she was underage... has a song dedicated to her (called "Don't Look the Other Way") and REGULARILY called her and checked up on her between concerts and touring, etc... Just incredible.
Once she reached the end of her battle... she was on her hospital bed and her family called Adam. He rushed to her side.... and sang her to "sleep" brought me to TEARS when I heard that story..
At a silent auction for the charity, he sang her song and had a slideshow with pics of them together.... couldn't believe that boy! incredible!

Joss Stone is amazing, she has this hypnotic smokey sound to her voice! I feel every word she sings.
Barbara Strisand - need I say more?
Barbershop Quartet known as Rockapella. They're awesome!
Mike Patton (from the 80's band Faith No More, also known in a band called Mr. Bungle) That man can sing any style of music and has such a pure, powerful voice. I read somewhere that he has perfect pitch. It mentioned something to the extent of, he has a constant note in his head and you can tell him to sing a note and he'll sing it without hearing the key. He's an acapella group's dream!

OK stone me if ya wanna but.. I can't not STAND
Whitney Houston
and
Mariah Carrie
Whenever I hear em I scream "PICK A FREAKIN NOTE ALREADY!" ugh...
Awaahh AWahhhh baaaa baaaa baaa waver waver wobble..
There are a lot of famous singers who can't sing like has been mentioned Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson (he can't act either)... but ya gotta add to that with
ETHEL MERMAN
She even admited she couldn't "Sing" but she could "BELT" and of course broadway back then was actually live with no mics so.....
And again.. PLEASE don't hate me BT but I can't stand the Beatles.. I really can't but that is my brothers fault he is a total Beatles Freak and that is all I was forced to listen to for 10 years! I kept telling him THEY AIN'T A BAND ANY MORE... but he would never listen.
however.. love John.
Now who DO I like? Ya I do like SOME! Mostly country since that is really all I listen to.... (by the way who are these simson girls? never heard of em.. hummm)
Trisha Yearwood (my lady & my fave)
Martina McBride (can't top that girls range or strength!)
Clay Walker (a WAY overlooked country singer who is totally awesome)
Patti LuPone (can't beat a broadway diva!)
Vince Gill (nuff said)
Enrique Iglesias (He has just grown on me)
George Strait (the man couldn't hit a wrong note)
Kealii Rachel (A Hawaiian singer Totally great)
Israel Kamakawiwo`ole - aka "Bruddah Iz" -
(another hawaiian singer known for his Over The Rainbow/Wonderful life combo used for a bank commercial I believe)
Sooo many others but I have bored ya long enough. !
Danny

KantStop...
I agree that Mariah Carey is just someone I cant stomach... and I can go either way on Whitney, dont love her, dont completely hate her either. And the Beatles? Well, I just never was into them.... cant really stand them actually. And I agree with your whole list of "likes" except there is something about Vince Gills voice that I dont like... he is too whimpy-sounding and that bores me.

So, I'm not the only one to notice that!
Quote: Oh and Crystal...have you heard leann do "How Do I Live" live? What the heck is she saying? When she sings the "How do I" parts... it sounds like she is saying "Ha-Do-Hii , Ha-Do-Hii, Ha-Do-Hii leeeve" Its just terrible!
I sounds to me like she's too lazy to form the words... Like she's mumbling that part. Why would anyone purposely sing like that.? She's already proven she has talent. What in the hell is up with that?

Tori Amos (although I love her music) does that too.. it's the only annoying thing about her I know of. She mumbles, slurs, mispronounces, heck... even uses the wrong words sometimes.
Have any of you folks ever noticed that in her version of 'Landslide', toward the end where the lyrics go 'see my reflection in the snow covered hills', she actually says 'erection' instead of 'reflection'. I had to listen to it several times before I believed it, but it's plain as day. I had a good laugh over that one.

Mariah USED to be terrific. When she first hit the scene, she was full of life and energy. I loved her performances.
THEN she began to get full of her "Divaness", and then her voice started going full of vibrato, major ups and downs across the notes field...
Now, I just can't stand to even look at her, let alone listen to her!

!! My hubby literally SHUDDERS when he sees her on TV! !LMAO! Kills me!
I agree... she used to be amazing!!! She used to show her INCREDIBLE range in her songs n stuff.... now it's like she's too "Miss. Ross" to give a damn about her fans OR her singing.... she just sings whatever crap comes outta her mouth and relies on her greatness to make her money
ya... the "miss Ross" thing... did u know that Diana Ross REFUSES to be called "Diana" or "Diana Ross" she MUST be called "Miss Ross" BY EVERYONE!!!! sick, huh? who made HER queen of divaville?
