My first wife was a violinist. In 1988 she had the opportunity to play inthe Brian Farnon Orchestr at Harrah's Lake Tahoe for John Denver followed by the Gatlin Brothers.

Margie had small parts in the 1971 Sacramento Music Circus productions of Kismet starring Robert Horton ant The Red Mill starring Al Lohman & Roger Barkley, with special guest star Don Ameche.

1974 Margie went to the Claiborne Farm in Lexington , Kentucky ... The home of Triple Crown winner Secretariat. When she got there is was closed to the public. Margie's mother talked the farm manager into a private tour of the stables. He even brought Secretariat out for a photo shoot in the pasture..

1999 California State Fair ... Margie placed 3rd out of 30 finalists to sing the National Anthem ... Her reward was to sing the National Anthem prior to the George Thorogood Concert (got to sit backstage in the VIP tent). Later that year with the backing of the Dustin James Ghost Town Band she would compete in the Country Music Organizations of America (independent artist group) annual competition. After winning regional and state titles, she would go to win the National Title of Female Traditional Entertainer of the Year ... Among the judges was Bob Wills Jr. In attendence was LeAnn Rimes' mother, who we would later meet. LeAnn Rimes and Lila McCann had both gotten a start here a couple of years earlier.

During this time we met a 12 year old girl by the name of Kayla Hinkle. The grandparents were in need of help in the form of sound equipment to do a show for local dignitaries. I offered to help. They also asked Margie to sing with Kayla. We did the 2 hour show after work one hot summer
night. A few months later Kayla would be on stage with David Foster at the Democratic National Convention in L.A. Kayla would get a standing ovation and a hug from then President of the United States, Bill Clinton.. After that she would sign with David Foster. I'm not quite sure what has become of her in recent years but, look at "The Concert For World Childrens Day" ... among others that sang on the album.. Celine Dion, Peter Cetera, and Enrique Iglesias...

And that's our story and I'm stick'n to it ...

ps: Kayla placed 7th behind Margie at the State Fair ... so much for critiques ... LOL

OK, a couple of small claims...

1) Just a few days ago, me and my sister in law were singing at my dads birthday party. Now, my dad also being a musician, there were a lot of musicians at the party. The following day, we got a call from a guy telling us to ring this other guy as he might have work for us (the guy who called is a long standing, very reliable source)... The guy I then spoke to turned out to be the drummer for the Irish group "The Commitments" (as in the film, the commitments) who invited us to go join them... unfortunately, the dates thay offered, we are already gigging, but he took our numbers, so who knows?

2) We had a gig last year at Windsor Castle, and my dad and brother went up early to set up. Once they were done, my bro decided he was hungry, and was going to drive into Windsor town to see if he could find a bakers shop or something. But he got a bit lost getting off the castle estate (its absolutely huge lol). So he decided to ask this elderly lady out walking her dog...

"'Scuse me luv, can you tell me how to get out of here??"...

He came back to the gig looking white as a sheet.... and all he said was.. "OMG, I just called the Queen of England 'Luv'!!".....

Apparently tho, she did give good directions lol ;)

*All the above is completely true ;) *

I was walking through the Ryman auditorium (the original home of the Grand Ole Opry) in Nashville and noticed that a TV interview was taking place on the stage. During a break, the guy being interviewed called me over and introduced himself... Ricky Skaggs!

Also in Nashville, I met Wylie Gustafson (Wylie and the Wild West). I helped Wylie and his group load up their gear after their gig and he drove me back to my hotel (it was 3 am). Hearing Wylie yodelling during his show inspired me to learn to yodel.

Rod Stewart- I was a server for a yacht/event coordinater company on the weekends in Newport Beach, Ca. Rod was one of the first of the party to show up. It was for a wedding reception or anniversary or something like that. I'm not even sure if it was friends or family... He is a very chatty man, but plesant to be around. And, as we all would imagine..... he tips really well!

Moses Hogan - I met him twice when I was in college. He is famous in the Choral world as an arranger, conductor and clinician. He recorded and conducted several of his arrangements with the famed Mormon Tabernacle Choir and has written some amazing spiritual a cappella choral songs.
The group I sang with in college went on 2 Cruises for an invitational festival/clinic type-of-thing. It was quite an experience learning the song the way our director directed us to, then meeting the person who wrote the songs and him directing us to sing it the way he dreamed it!! ((reminicing)) I miss singing with that group sooooo much! What would I do without my Karaoke?! It's a sickness, I tell ya![i][i]
