hey gang... ok.. are ya's reading my posts?? .. i know they are long winded, but I promise you that pretty much all your questions are answered in either the big one that has the lyrics or the one above on this page.. hehe BUT I do not want anyone to be confused so let me reitereate a couple of points
1. For those of you who said you could not get the backing from your temps.. make SURE you are going to the RIGHT temp folder. I only say this b/c I made the same mistake, and ended up in the wrong folder the first time because there are more than one temp internet folders on my computer (and there probably are on yours too) I'm pretty sure if you have any windows based system, they have to be dumped into that same temporary internet file that I find mine in.
You have to go to either your control panel or in your browser settings where it says "Internet Options" In the little box (the 2nd one) where it is talking about Temporary Internet Files there are three buttons.. "Delete Cookies" "Delete Files" and "Settings"
Click on "Settings" .. this will open up a new area. Near the bottom there are three more boxes.. "move folder" "view files" "view objects" .. Select "view files."
This will open up the correct temp folder where everything you download from webgraphics from opening sites to all the ss songs you listen to.
If you empty your temp files ("Delete files" button in Internet options) BEFORE you go to listen to the file, you might have an easier time of finding it.. however, that is not absolutely necessary.
If your files are arranged by file name, all the ss files will be together under.. you guessed it ss. The name of this particular file is "ss-1224-25_6813.mp3" When you find it, right click it and selct "copy" Then just paste it into one of your folders on your hard drive like "my music" or something...
***added*** another method... you can even just copy and paste the file name ss-1224-25_6813 to a search window on your computer and it will take you to it IF you make sure to tell the search options to include hidden and system files (otherwise it will not show up in the search since it is in a system file) When it does come up, you just right click it and select copy than paste it to another folder on your hard drive
2. If you are good at harmonies, and have no preference as to which part to sing on the 2 and 3 part harmony spots, Shamran suggested that you could make a couple of quick different recordings. (one singing melody, and one or two others singing different harmony lines). This is an excellent idea, and wouldn't take very long.. well.. except for me , but I like the idea because than I can pick from those files and make the best balance of parts. So if you are up to doing that, please do so! and just follow the roadmap I gave of when to sing which harmonies. For those of you who are only comfortable with the melody... that's just fine we need a good strong melody
3. From you, all I want is a plain dry vocal track. No music, no effects, no mixing... nada. Just a plain ol' vocal track. Mono is preferable.. This makes it incredibly MUCH easier to mix, and it provides me with a blank canvas in order to match up everyone's sound as much as possible .. and Missy.. yes.. you only sing where it designates you to...
4. For those of you who are still confused about what to sing...
with the exception of MissM and Smileyskim who have a little duet line and each have half of a line that is a solo, you all have:
1. one solo line that has your name next to it 2. a line that you sing depending on whether you are male or female (the one that says "all guys" or "all girls" near the beginning) 3. you sing where it says all (and which harmonies whether 2 or 3 part is designated) 4. and finally, that part after Santa is laughing.. It starts off with two people, and ADDS two people each time it is repeated. So if you are designated to come in the second time.. you sing from then on. It's in unison (melody) until I think the 6th one, and at that point you can choose to sing melody or the upper harmony from that point on.
the only other exception are those couple of ladies I asked to sing that counter melody at the end.. and CRYSTAL.. I think you are totally capable of getting those notes gf so SING IT
I think that covers just about everything...
If you still are having trouble downloading the backing with the guide vocals after trying the above method, please pm me with where I can send it to you, and I will do so
ohh and DD.. If you go back to that post on page two of this discussion where I put the lyrics, there is a paragraph that explains the backing file. I panned the guide vocals to one side and the music to the other, so that they can easily be separated to their own tracks. therefore letting you mute the vocals when you are doing your solo line.. all is explained in that post.. check it out and let me know if you have any questions

Jazzy:
I was just wondering about getting them all to match up and figured it'd be easier if you had the music in the same file to que off of. I'll try to get this recorded this weekend and sent off to you.
I'm not clear on the harmony/melody stuff but I'll try to get it worked out. And no, I understand what you're saying just fine, I'm just an idiot regarding harmony because of a lack of professional training (but I'm working on it). Just clip/silence anything you don't need from my sub - you won't hear me complain!
A BIG thank you for putting this together though... I always wondered if we could actually pull off something like this!
Anyone want to do the 'Buy the world a coke/teach the world to sing' song from the Coke commercials in the 70's? (Uh, oh... showing my age now...)

Connie.. thank you so very much for supplying Mezza with the backing. I've been preoccupied with my getting married this weekend so I haven't been around much lately.. I appreciate the help! Ohhh and I've searched my email and canNOT find the file you said you sent :\ I dun get it.. unless it somehow got sent to my junk mail? If you don't mind terribly, try sending it again, and hopefully it will go through this time! Thanks
To all else.. common peeps let's get to it
