I recently saw 1408 with John Cusak. I thought it was good. It is not so much of a horror film it is more like The Sixth Sense type of suspense.

One of my all time favorite movies is "LITTLE VOICE". Here is some info about it.

Telephone repairman Ewan McGregor and music promoter Michael Caine play second fiddle to Little Voice (Jane Horrocks), a young woman whose beautiful pipes could pack a thousand cabarets. Trouble is, she can only sing along to records in her room.

I saw most of the new movies lately and most were good. Specially liked Harry Potter, Fantastic 4 and Transformer.

I also saw a few movies I missed, thanks to NetFlix. Here are some that I really liked.

- Copying Beethoven - Ed Harris' performance was just inspiring. He was a bit over the top some of the time but overall it was a great movie

- The Italian - Little known Russian movie about an orphan boy trying to find his natural mother. It's not just feel good kind of movie, a bit dark

- Alpha Dog - I thought this was good, specially acting my Emile Hirsch. Some of better acting by current crop of young actors. Yes, it does have Justin Timberlake in it but he wasn't that bad at all.

- The Good Shepard - Not the best movie but I liked Matt Damon's role in this movie. Angelina Jolie was a bit annoying but overall a good movie.

Check them out....

Those of you that like the Horror Category.   (meaning Babs in particular)  Was Amityville supposed to be based upon a true event, in Amityville Long Island, or is that an urban legend ?

the book was supposedly based on the real incidents, and then you found out the publishers of the book embellished a lot. The movie based on the book based on the real story... bears very LITTLE to the book...

Thanks Matt.

From what little I've read, it appears that Butch DeFeo had a defense Atty that wanted to publish a book and the Lutzes loved the prospect of being able to get rich by making up a tale.  (I still would never have the balls to buy that house and live in it)  LOL

Harry Potter - great flick, I thought it was better than the last one. Very Good !

Simpson's Movie - Funny of course, but no funnier than a normal episode.

I Now Pronounce You Chuck and larry - wait for the rental if you have to see it. Not that great.

Bourne Supremacy - A must see action movie. I read the trilogy about 12 years ago and just couldn't put them down. I thought the book was very well written and often times it's hard to translate from one medium to another. This movie has done well translating the book, without exactly following the book, keeping the original intent of the book.

Some older movies on DVD:

Equilibrium - I liked this movie. Not a huge high budge movie but Christian Bales was pretty good in this movie. I think this was before his Batman movie and he stood out with his "moody" acting. Worthy of renting.

Wonderous Oblivion - I liked this movie a lot. A movie about racism during the 50s in London. It's about a Jewish kid who wants to play Cricket but not good at it. A Black family from Jamaica moved next door and the father of the family teaches Cricket to the boy and they form a friendship amid all the racism around the neighborhood. I recommend it.
