This is the most ludicrous behavior I have ever experienced.  This is supposed to be a Karaoke Forum.  Not choosing sides, but if someone is good at what they do, then let them go on about it.  And if you don't want to read it, there are hundreds of other topics you can read and reply too.  
I have not responded to many posts because I for one, do not do Karaoke myself anymore.  I oversee it, I help the individuals who do run it.  I said a long time ago that I was taught by someone who ran a Karaoke Company very similar to the way BigDog runs his Company and equipment.  I am very proud to say that if I had not run the business in that same manner, I would not be overlooking and giving advice to the people that are running that system now.  They have appreciated the knowledge that I was taught,  and value my opinion.  That is all I will say about that.  
I do think it is very childish to report BigDog and have him banned.  I have enjoyed many posts by him, and have really enjoyed all of the responses.  Maybe I have read less into the posts than any of you.  But this site is about, and for Karaoke.   For all to be able to post their experiences, good or bad.  To share good ideas, and to express their own opinions.  What is wrong with that?  
I think most of you who reply know exactly the point BigDog is trying to make, but refuse to accept it.  There are jerks out there who would do anything to take your jobs.  They have no scrupels or cooth, just backstabbers.  It has happened to me also.  Unfortunately for them, (the backstabbers, undercutters) I had a good repor with my bar owners and it back fired on them.  
Just let it go!  This went like this a while back, and I said I would not post anymore because it was so ridiculous.    But I continue to read, laugh, and smile.  We are all adults on here.  But this post and the replies are something I would expect from giddy little girls.  Not professionals!!!

Most forums that I visit, MOST people DO share helpful information and create friendships or camaraderie (SP?) with other members.


In my opinion, sounds like you are choosing sides.


So you are telling us that you do not perform any more and you are a karaoke  groupie that just helps out or are you a multi-op owner that oversees hosts under your company? There are 2 other hosts that post in online forums, that I know of, that runs a show like BD: 1 in Indiana & 1 in California, which one are you? Or are you BD (Mark) in disguise?


When BD first came in here he had a good attitude, but lately he has had the karaoke GOD complex and it was all about him, him, him, not sharing any REAL useful information, going over the same old stuff about himself, not providing POSITVE PROOF to backup any of his claims, even though the members here asked/pleaded/demanded for proof, insulting the way other people ran their show since it was not his way of doing a show, calling people "hacks".... did I miss anything else? Ooooo.... I forgot.... bragging about his $600 mics and his system that others have proved how rediculous his technical prowess is in setting it up properly.


What was his point? I could not see any point past his HUGE EGO; it was blocking anything he'd try to point out.

In my experience of online chat boards, anybody can sit anonymously behind a computer screen & a keyboard and talk/claiming about doing everthing under the sun. Until you prove your claims of: who you are, where your gigs are at and meet people from online to backup your claims, how can you gain respect from your peers and people online? There are quite a few people here that I have great respect for, even though I have never met them, but by the way they carry themselves on an online forum.


From this board I have had dbk, (from FT. Lauderdale), and Anthonny, (from Manchester, England), come to my shows. I have also met other DJ/VJ/KJ's from other boards at conventions or when they come to my area for a visit/vacation and they can backup any claims I make when I'm online because they have met me in person, share good ideas over a few drinks and gain respect for each other.


Can BD make similar claims?....... uh... no.

I had no problem with big dog. I found his attitude exciting. He never swayed in his position. He brought a lot of good topics into discussion. There was so many interesting threads about Karaoke going on when he posted.
when I read a post by him I took each one just as it was, A post from some  Anonymous person with a severe complex. But that aside he did bring much entertainment to the Forum. and I have to addmit I agreed with alot of what he said. I think the Ban wasnt necassary and agree with Morgan. Who will be next? when will the tides change to hunt Witches again? Or anybody that likes a certian month?
Forums have Characters, we are all just characters that build one big Karaoke Family. every Family has it's black sheep (or big dog).

Im sorry mroctober....No offense meant, I think your a cool guy & to be honest I took up for Big dog and enjoyed reading it's post. It as I call BD because I have no clue if its a Man or woman due to it changing its info so much  LOL  anyway...I tried my best to get Big dog to let me know where it is so that I could visit Big dogs show.

In the begining Big dog had made some good points and gave helpful information, then all of the sudden it seemed all Big dog wanted to do was come in here to just do nothing but call the rest of us hacks.....Constantly everyday calling everyone a hack who doesn't do things Big dogs way, and it finally got old.

I would be glad to leave so that Big dog can have all the attention IT needs so that IT can once again be a great source for help and information.   It don't matter that I know as much as he does....It don't matter what help I have to offer.....Only Big dog can offer the info and help that people want to hear......

I even tried to get those guys to ban me because Im Big enough to know that Im not really wanted here....I learned that a long time ago!!!

I come here acting like a fool and trying to be a comedian because Like Big dog and some others....I don't have nothing better to do  LOL

We all post non Karaoke stuff and silly crap here I have posted more non Karaoke stuff than many.
the only ones who should be banned are the Spammers. You Dont Need to be banned, some funny stuff comes out of the silly post's..we all need Flirting and Humor

On That note ...I believe that Lonnie and Matt (who are long time members) should have the ability to temporaraly pull a spammer's post and put it on hold for the admin's to determine if it is truly spam. catch this stuff as soon as it's posted.


and another thought ...who's to say Big Dog isnt one thats still here and has allways been here?

while bigdog get my goat, bangs my car, grabs my nads, or whatever other saying you want to use for "he annoys me" it's not my place to ban him.  it is the place of the moderators.  i have to option to ignore him if i like, just as we all do.  regardless if he is annoying, he hasn't done anything wrong.  no profanity, no threats, nothing that really warrants him being ejected.  banning him would be like throwing someone in jail for talking loud while you're fishing.  sure it's annoying as hell, but you can't ban him from the lake and i doubt the lake ranger would ban him either!

I have to admit that when this post started, I didn't get the drift that we were actually going to "ban" him.  Matter of fact I didn't realize you could.  My "vote" of agreement was simply what I was trying to get across to everyone earlier, and that was just to ignore.

I agree we don't "want" a police network where we have to be afraid of what we say.  BUT, if I were the administrator to this site, I also would not want some attacking or scaring away new people to this site.  Or giving out what is univerally known as bad or wrong advice. And I am sure BD did that on more than one occasion.  

Much of what he preached, I either agree with or am already doing.  What I strongly object to is the attitude in which he presented.  This site should be of shared ideas.  Those ideas don't of course always have to be agreed upon.  But they should always be respected.

Though I don't agree whole heartedly with banning, we have to realize that forums, even though they are nothing more than online communication,are also in kind to a real life community.  And as in real life; the world is run by those "who show up."

With recent events in the world and more particularly here in the USA, we hear the suggestion that if you're "that upset with the way we do things in this country, then move."  Perhaps that could also apply to a forum.  "Communities should always be governed by the majority.
