I went to work last night not knowing if the snow was going to detour people from coming out. I pulled into the parking lot and there were 6 cars :O . Friday nights are for the most part scary busy. I usually have to park across the street to get a parking spot. I set up, played a game of pool and whammo people started coming in.
I had the busiest night in months !! I even had a couple travel 45 min. to get there.
You gotta love the karaoke diehards, they are more dependable than the mailman. LMAO

What a cool pic !! I forgot how bright out it can get when there is snow on the ground. It is almost blinding today.
Isis you are the sweetest - I'd love to take credit for all the people, but I know it
is because they love to sing.

I once got a call from my best friend (who lived downstairs from me) while I was at the bar during a major storm, saying a tree had been blown over and was laying on my car. I had an extra drink, then...
...stayed and sang until 2 in the morning! Good thing Chuck was driving. :dancin:
It only took them about 3 hours to get the tree moved the next morning. I never called in "tree" to work before. LMAO

ME too. He might be out driving around the country. That means that he had to go through that nasty weather at some point.

Well I have power for the time, but we are in some HEAVY winds right now. My club went out about 5 minutes after I started, so I have an early night. Expected winds to reach up to 100MPH gusts. I just got home, & driving down the roads, right now we are about the only ones with power right now. We'll see how it goes, power is flickering as I type!!!! Hope the trees behind my house hold up!
Have a good night!

I hear you Lonman, I just got off the phone with my son, he was driving home from work (Centrailia to North Bend) and he said he was dodging street signs and trees that had been blown off. He also said they went about 5 hours today in his store without power due to the high winds....
I'll be thinking about you
Be careful

Oh yeah, we are all sleeping in the basement in the furthest corner from the trees tonight. I don't expect any problem, but just in case.
All kinds of branches & trees were down & we still have a couple hours before the "BIG" wind hits - supposedly.

Lonnie,
Wasn't there some terrible event with wind in your area in the 60's ? Think your area had a terrible wind storm that went down in history back then too... 100 mph gusts are dang dangerous as all &$#(, that's what, a category 3 hurricane type wind ? amazing... We don't get that type wind here....
ADDED IN:
This is what I was thinking of
Quote: The Columbus Day Storm of 1962 was an extratropical wave cyclone that ranked among the most intense to strike the United States Pacific Northwest since at least 1948, and probably since the January 9, 1880, "Great Gale" and snowstorm. On a larger scale, the Columbus Day Storm of 1962 is a contender for the title of most powerful extratropical cyclone recorded in the U.S. in the 20th century; with respect to wind velocity, it is unmatched even by the much-touted March 1993 "Storm of the Century" and the "1991 Halloween Nor’easter" (aka "The Perfect Storm"). In the eastern United States, only hurricanes of Category 3 or higher have brought winds of the magnitude witnessed in Oregon on Columbus Day, October 12, 1962.
I guess Don and Flipper might recall this storm..

Sure I was there! It was the Columbus Day storm all right. I was almost 8. A few hours before the storm I got a new bike and had it parked under a tree. Had to get that in the garage in hurry! Our power was out for three days. Toppled trees everywhere. No house damage though.
In this current storm, Canby wasn't hit super hard. The power flickered several times, but never did go out completely.

I don't remember the Columbus Day storm - I didn't exist then, but the 93 "Inaugaral Day" storm - as it happened AS Clinton was being sworn in - I remember well - this one blew that one away - literally. Stupid power didn't go out completely, but went on & off like someone standing at a light switch.
Ah well, we didn't have any major damage, but kids have no school - Winter break starts early this year, I can see toppled trees over there.

Which storm was it that toppled the Tacoma Narrows Bridge in that famous footage we always see- you know of the guy walking away from his car just as the bridge blows down?
