Sorry James a kilt is NOT a skirt!  Ask any Celtic person (that's Irish or Scottish and sometimes Welsh for the barbarians out there).  And a kilt is never plain it portrays the pattern of the wearer's clan. (Can you tell I'm Irish?  :dancin: )

BTW congrats on the weight loss.  Now if I could only do the same.  I've been tryin' to climb down from 240 for a while.

Yeah I'm pretty proud of myself on that part. I stopped drinking, cut waaay back on my red meat consumption, and the fact that I've been working my arse off with gigs has really helped also. I mean I am not one to excersise at all, but having to load and unload all my own equipment has really helped. When I first started, it would take me forever to move all my stuff around. Now I'm in the routine, I go straight from the truck to setup and soundcheck before I take a break, and from 'thank you good night' straight to breakdown and loading up the truck. I've gotten it down to about a 45 min. routine since I've added all the new equipment, so that's not too bad.
Another thing, is that since I've started doing shows, I'm getting a lot more attention from the lady folks and that's not a bad thing at all. I think a lot of it had to do with turning 50 and realizing that I needed to make some necessary changes in my life.
My next goal is to get my weight down to about 180-185, and I'll be happy. Then I'm gonna make a concentrated effort to stop smoking. With my singing style, hell if you can't breath, you can't sing and after 4 days straight, my voice is pretty strained just from singing and then add the smoking on top of that. Now on the bright side, I've never been more than a pack a day guy anyway, on rare occasion, it may be a pack and a half, but for the majority of my smoking years, it's rarely been over a pack.
The good thing about smoking during the show, I light one up, get busy, take a drag(maybe), by time I get back to it, it's already burnt out. So by the end of the night, the ash tray may in fact be full, but I've probably only actually smoke maybe one or two cigarettes. But anyways, I'm rambling again, and good lord knows I don't want to get scolded by the forum wackos for changing the subject of my own thread. ;)

Gigi, my deepest apologies for not saying 'Happy Birthday' to you.
Sorry, I get caught up in my own selfish thoughts and tangents, that I forget everything else around me, so please forgive me. I hope you had a great time and were able to spend it with family and friends. :D

Only stage name I ever used was Alfred Neuman (Of Mad Magazine fame) at a karaoke club. That was after I had already been on stage with my regular name. Once I got up on stage they realized it was me and kicked me off, then tried to kick me out of the club but I was already gone at that point.  LOL

My nick name has been Babs for as long as I can remember, so
when I started doing karaoke it was a plus. My real name is Lori.  LMAO

Once in a while someone will call me Barb thinking Babs is short for Barbara.
Usually one of the regulars will correct them. I find when I correct them they don't
listen and continue to call me Barb anyway.

It is a plus guys not knowing my real name or phone number!

I've seen singers use stage names.  Never really understood why.  One girl tried to attract attention to herself by calling herself Swallow (it worked).  I imagine KJs occasionally get guys who think they're being really clever when they write their name as "Hugh Gass" or "Hugh G. Rection" on the slips.

Off topic but I'll write it anyway: My town seems to have several streets the names of which would be good pornstar names.
Ginger Bend
Sugarbush Lane
Misty Meadow

Anybody got any others?

Isis,
Thanks for the compliment on our slogan!!

Babs,
Awesome book cover!

Robdogkaraoke,
I love your cover and the fact that you designed it makes it even more incredible!

Maninblack,
After reading your post about all your community service the first thing that popped into my head was "Hearts Full Entertainment".  I also like Magz suggestion as well...

Congratulations on your gigs!  It can definitely be tiring but soooo much fun!

Susie :)
