I don't think I'm being blase' about it, to be honest.

I didn't type anything that's not well known here already.

There are certain things (and places on the net) I share, and those I do not.

But I think some people hypochondriac a bit, my hubby included. He freaks about my PIC being up here..... "Why in the heck would you put your pic on the INTERNET?!?!?!?!?!?"........ You know, this big bad scary internet place? I mean, geez... it's just not as big a deal as some people make of it, IMO.

I can't live my life watching over my shoulder.... And I'm just pointing out that, you can be THE most careful person, and still have an incident happen, most likely more local than an internet stalker. That's like not driving a car, cause you're scared an accident can happen. I mean, chances are huge that one will.... but you don't quit driving to lessen the chance.

By the way, just so YOU know...... I live in Michigan, and my name is Peter.  :wave:

Dan,  my own feelings regarding this area:





I just try to make certain, that anything I divulge to a room such as this, is something I'm willing to deal with YEARS down the road when it comes back to hit me in the face.  In general it's always wisest to be guarded... Noone will ever know exactly what I do for a living, even on the telephone, I don't share an area I feel might make me too vulnerable (employer, place of work, etc assuming the person also comes to this room). To me that's common sense, some things we should not put out on a possible chopping block, why take unnecessary risks ?  There's ALOT of evil out there often reading in here.... I don't want to risk any aspect of my job.. The fact they know I work out've my home,  well that really says little...  As to certain conditions, etc, medical stuff, well... If I say it here, I'm willing to defend it even when thrown back at me maliciously.. I use my real name, because I want to be as :real: as I can be... If I dress myself up as :me:,  I'll conduct myself as :me:, as a result the whole experience is more rewarding to me assuming I invest as much as I safely can/should..One thing I have always done, because it works best "for me", is that if I become involved emotionally with a girl in a room someplace, NOBODY on the internet know's who the person is, and we must have our separate fun apart from one-another in order to maintain some autonomy. I don't want to worry about hearing "Why did you speak to so-and-so,  you know that I can't stand them ?...etc" , I just can't deal with Jr. High stuff anymore... I don't stay in the room we became involved in, to me that's destructive to most relationships...JMO... Again,  I've learned after MANY years of belonging to many ISP's, survival techniques


Yet as you mentioned, I absolutely have the responsibility of protecting my identity, and family when I chat to a world full of strangers... Assuming I didn't live in a gated complex, with a guardhouse, and security, I'd likely even be more guarded... I only show a hand, I'm willing to lose...  I'm VERY familiar with how group mentality works on individual relationships from years of seeing that many on the internet are devious.  When you have a group of this many, it's never smart to trust many, or open up if you feel there's ANY chance of the person bringing what you've told them into public forum for all to read..

Quite simply,  This room pays a little extra for highest visibility on the internet, deliberately for ALL the world to read if it wants to.. Whatever you say in here,  it's your own reputation. nobody elses.

Other than identity theft I cant figure out who these boogie people are that you people fear..  As far as stalkers I dont think they are going to get very far with their nose glued to a computer screen. Of course the lurkers might turn into stalkers so maybe we better legislate some stringent lurker laws.  Whats frightening is we cant register the lurkers and some of them might be real violent. They sure are secretive and cunning...And they out number us.....We cant get cancer from their second hand smoke tho...

I do not post that often, but Pgh Pat just seems to be obsessed with the fact that she knows BigDog.  Who cares.  And if he is as horrible as she makes him out to be, then why search him out?  Leave it alone.  I have only been on here for a few months myself, and I can honestly say, that of all the posts he/she has put on here and rowled so many people, you all seem to get over it.  It ends up that all of you laugh and joke about the post Big Dogs put out, and in turn he does the same.  I think if there is any harrassing on here, it is comeing from you, Pgh Pat.  Seems you are the one that is full of yourself.
That is just my 2 cents worth!  Sorry if I offended anyone on here.

Error!  Better keep my mouth shut.  She will be attacking me too.  I too learned all my Karaoke experience from someone just like Big Dog.  I am not ashamed of the techniques I was taught.  Very similar.  It made a profitable business.
