It's all up to the lawyers. The rest of us are just standing by ready to upload lots more songs.
But I feel your pain. Check out the Classic Movie Poster Contest and my entry in particular. We don't have search done yet but here's a clue...
"If it's so fool-proof, why hasn't somebody done it yet?"
"Same reason nobody's gone to the moon yet - no equipment"
Any guesses?

Hey, who do you think I am, Charlie Chan? I have no idea Stew! Incidentally, I must congratulate you on being so affable under what must be trying circumstances right now. Just thought I'd mention--I notice these things...

I found one Sinatra tune, "Something Stupid", which is not really a Sinatra tune (not with Nancy on it!) and a Nat King Cole song. You might want to take a moment and look through the listing of songs on Singer's Showcase to get a nice representation of the material popular on this site currently. There are quite a few of us jokers who like singing these songs! Looking forward to submitting my entries in the near future,
Michael I can't wait 'til the above tunes are added. Those are right up my alley.
BTW- My webcam is already here from Palo Alto. I wasn't planning on getting it so fast. I will honor my commitment and get at least a couple of songs up ASAP.

Hi Chuck: I think you and I would be kind of hard pressed to find something to sing on there right now--they are sending me a cam and being a gentleman I will honor their request--but let's keep our fingers crossed there's something up there us guys to sing before the contest starts! MJK

Puff Daddy? Even I couldn't find that one on our site.
I know the library isn't what it will be although if you happen to be a Country or Beatles fan your chances are somewhat improved. There are more Beatles tunes that I even knew they recorded.
But you couldn't find one song even for a chance at $300? Or the thought of people all across the internet seeing you and wishing they could sing that well?
For me, part of the challenge of finding a song is the way you look for them is very clunky right now.
Here's a tip that will help browsing the list a little easier... type a genre in the "Search for a song" window on the song list page. This will list all the songs in that category. For example "Classic" will show you only the classics that we have.
Mike, I promise I'll vote for you if you record something. I also promise to whine louder with the lawyers so they can get us more music.
We'll get there. Sorry it requires some compromise for now.

I will find at least two songs I can submit to the site. I do have a genre of music that my voice is best suited for but I only just found this out. I don't know very many songs from that genre.
I can bear with you. I will also be inviting some people to the site. Is there a limit to how many I can invite? If there is I will oblige.

Chuck -- You can invite as many as you'd like. The more the merrier.

We are hearing reports of PC and Mac users having trouble uploading or re-recording that result in a recording not making it all the way or not sounding very good.
We are working to try and figure out what is not working but the good news is that some of these recordings may actually still be on our servers but just didn't make it all the way to you.
If would be a huge help if you could email cs@bix.com with the following info:
- Your Bix name
- Approximately the date/time when you had the problem
- Exactly what you saw that told you that your file was gone
- Your computer configuration. In particular which OS and webcam.
- The song you were recording
- How you connect to the Internet and its speed.
All this info will allow us to sort through a mound of data and try and locate the source of the difficulty.
Thank you very much both for your help getting to the bottom of this as well as your patience in bearing with us.

I did my first video. It was horrible and some laughter would be appreciated. It's in the KS video contest on the Bix website.

I'm not just topless.
I was trying to be sexy by infusing most of my annoying personality into one very long song.

It is absolutely amazing what happens when I go out of town on business. I wondered where the webcam came from. I didn't get an invitation either.
While I have just skimmed the posts in this topic, I am curious about the lawyers' direct and ongoing involvement in which songs are legal to post if all selections are Sound Choice and there are a limited number of companies representing artists.

Invitations were only sent to part of the Singer's Showcase group. We wanted to make sure you didn't do stuff like sing karaoke nude. Oh, wait. Or did we want you to do nude karaoke?
We apologize if you weren't one of the ones who got an invitation. If you email stewart@bix.com then I'll invite you. Also somebody who is already a member can invite anyone they want simply by logging into the site and seleting the "Invite a friend" in the upper right corner of the page.
In a week or so we will remove all this invitation nonsense and make it easier to get to the site. Then who knows what will happen. Should be entertaining.

My next submission will go much better. I just invited my wife and will invite some more people soon. I may not get around to it before it goes public very soon.
I think I need to say a few more words too.
I, me, I, me, soon, soon, me, I
Good, I feel better now.
I, me, I - oops

So far the few of you that we invited have not wrecked the place so we are throwing caution to the wind and opening the doors wide open.
We have fixed lots of bugs thanks to some great feedback from this group. There are still some more lurking but lots of new things as well.
We are also in the process of adding a bunch more songs to the library. It will take a week or so to get them put up but lots more great stuff (including lots more Sinatra!).
Have fun and email me if you have any questions.
