It sure looks like the worst part of summer is over for us. At it's worst we had a couple of days that reached 86 in our living room. The kitchen was even warmer.

101 degrees today. Been varying between 100-104 last couple weeks. Only had two small rain showers in the last month or so. Humidity is horrible. Couple counties over from us had a field fire. Burned about a 1,000 acres. They had 8 firefighters taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion. Making sure my folks keep downing the Gatoraid and water.
PLEASE SEND RAIN!!!

Holy Moly - we got hit hard with a super storm. I was under my desk at work today. When I drove home there were tree limbs blocking the roads, trampolines and umbrellas all over, fences down. It was crazy. The tornado sirens went off, but it missed us. Thank goodness! Then I came home and thought it was safe so I went to get my nails done. We are sitting chatting when BAM! it hit again. Water started pooring in the shop like a dam broke. The owner was frantically throwing down towels and thought to open the door to push water out - dumb move - an avalanch of water gushed in. She slammed the door and we watched the water go waste high on the door outside. We sat and waited for it to subside. An hour and a half later we crawled out the back window to our cars. I drove home through almost undrivable water. My house sits high so I'm fine. Boy was I glad to get home. I've never seen anything like it ! Our town hasn't flooded once since I have lived here 17 yrs. Look Out Johnny it's heading your way !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh great to top it off my daughter got home and had to drive through high water. Now her car is having problems. She drives a stick shift and says the car won't go over 40 miles an hour now with the engine light blinking. Does anyone know what that could be?

Heck, You have an advantage. At this rate I'll still be chasing women in the parking lot of the mall next door and having restraining orders, and stalking warnings placed on my butt at 58.. At least you have a shot at having kids at 58.. I don't think I'd be able to get a Russian bride here by the time I'm 58, let alone have a litter.

Wow, are you near a desert ? It's finally cooled off here in CT. But, now the allergy seasons going strong, and humidity is still uncomfortable. Nights are cooler though. Problem is as soon as the air cools off, it's pollens and ragweed that keep me in.. I love to walk too, just lousy air quality around here

I'm in Riverside county, Ca...not exactly desert...and up until the past week or so, it's actually been cooler than it was when I left NY.

While I've spent much of my life in the metro NY area, I feel as though I need a scuba tank and armour when I go into NY.. Also a helmet for falling pigeon droppings,, I get REALLY claustraphobic with people above me, below me, to the sides of me... Few times I was at City Center, The Met, etc.. I was afraid somebody would jump of fall off a balcony or a box would fall of the wall, or a light would drop onto my head.. When I was in the balcony I was afraid it was me that'd fall.. I'm really not too adaptable as a suburban country type kid *well that is if you call CT country* Of course it was important for my mom to see to it that I was well versed in the arts... So there's that time at the Guggenheim... Between that ramp, the linear art, and those modern weird murals I lost my stomach a few times... At the Museum of natural history I was afraid the lighting would get me dizzy, and I'd slip and accidenly fall breaking the glass on the Star of India's Showcase and a sharp-shooter would shoot me.. I do best closed in my living room typing in chatrooms

Aww...I'm just the opposite...I THRIVE in NY...I need the lights in Times Square...the theatres on every corner....the piano bars...Central Park.....
I'm suffocating in Ca....it's so QUIET....everything I want to go do is an hour away - so long as there's no traffic...otherwise it can be as much as 4 hours! *laugh* I never thought I'd miss the SUBWAY so much! LOL
