I don't think the radio station does a remote while at the bar. They have one station employee giving out the prizes and the station does advertise the karaoke show and bar/restaurant. There are a few "not so hot" singers, but there are also a lot of really good singers who go to this show. It's at a place in West Lebanon, NH called the Benning Street Bar and Grill. They also have a big dance club attached to the Bar, called Electra. It's definitely a great spot to go.

Lady,
this place sounds like it definately has it's mind on where it wants to go still.. and how to get there and is doesn't have the problems that the riff-raff bars do.. must be a really cool place with well organized management.

It definitely is, and it's a really nice place, too. It's relatively new, and very popular.

I am a KJ, a singer, and a designated driver.
My family are all drunks.... my one aunt will drink until she gets comatose and falls off the bar stool, one uncle get stupid when drunk and then tries to drive home. I just don't touch the stuff
I drink soda, coffee, bottled water. I have no problem paying a buck for a soda refil, HOWEVER that glass better be FULL with soda in the majority and not ice.
Also I may bring in 1 to 3 drinkers with me, at $2.50 a beer X 2 drinkers X 7 beers =$$$$
Not to mention i always eat at the venue.
Now when i am hosting, i honestly do expect a pitcher of soda, if the place has a soda gun.... if not I will offer to pay them like $5 for me to be able to bring a 2-liter of 7UP in with me. I need liquid to sing!!!
Some bar owners can see the need to treat the coke drinker/meal buyer properly, and others don't
After complaining to one bar, it seems that i get charged every-other time. After all the singers are as much of the entertainment as the host is.

Ya know, I don't think anyone has a problem with something like that. Its those who come into a show and want to participate while not spending anything that we get upset with. Even with designated drivers - they can dring sodas or water or whatever they want - they're there for the safety of those who are drinking. Also, sometimes a person may be short on money. If they usually come in and spend at the show, but just happen to be in a bind this week, its no big deal. Just don't expect to come in week after week without spending anything. It'd be like going to the doctor's office all the time and asking for advice without ever making an appointment, figuring why pay when ya can get it for free.

Mike,
I don't think it's wasted space at all. I've heard from those that support my stance, and I've respected those that tell me and mine that we're worried about nothing.
It does open my eyes abit to see how the problem is different for us all.

some people, myself included do not drink. to expect water is stupid. i try to only go to places that serve food. and i over tip. and i still have been treated rudely. like if i dont drink they cant make money. as one guy said, they need a lot more non-alcoholic karaoke venues.

Hey you again, it's me again. I agree with you - I don't drink alcohol, either. But (as a singer), I would go to venues where I could eat, and I, too, tip very well. You KNOW I tipped good when a waitress would see me come in and RUN to bring me a glass of ice tea (no kidding).
These aren't the people this forum is talking about. They're talking about the ones that will come into an establishment, drink free water and eat free popcorn and not even tip a quarter. These are the people the bar can't afford to be full of. It's not meant toward people that prefer not to drink alcohol, not at all (honest).
Again, you're welcome to come to our shows anytime (please do!).
Knock me in the head er sumthin' and let me know it's YOU, k? Most of our venues serve food (they're listed on our web site what they serve/don't serve and any specials on Karaoke nights).
Hope to see ya soon!
