Isn't Craigslist more of a local trader, face-to-face transacting. Like Bargain News.. You establish contact, and than transact more personally than Ebay transaction which is usually at best Email (sometimes phone calls are encouraged, and THAT I like), but Craigslist I thought was more like Ebay "local".... Naturally being older and MUCH larger Ebay has advantages... Usually if I'm searching for specific items, I do broad web-searches, omitting NO VENUE, including pawn-shops, Huge businesses, I just enter a search online... For obscure items Ebay can't be touched in many cases... For very common items, sometimes what you save on Ebay's price, costs you in higher Shipping charges, non-warantee'd items, or difficulty some of us have telling a smaller businessman we aren't happy. I have NO apprehensions calling up Musician's Friend CS and screaming.. , Or J&R, etc... WHen it comes to the smaller businessman, I have too much of a heart. I don't wish to hurt anybody's feelings that I believe really tries to get along with others, and I believe MOST on Ebay do genuinely care about their businesses.. It's THEIR business, and reputation.
ADDED IN:
Jerry, If what you want is older broken down notebook systems, why don't you advertise locally that you are willing to pickup notebooks (state specs) that people no longer want, and depending on features offer a few bucks perhaps... Must be loads of people locally that have notebooks breaking down.. Although you don't see as many in dumpsters as old desktops, do you advertise locally that you want these ? Might save some money doing that too ?? DUnno

I just learned a thing or two prior to even signing onto Ebay... What Twansenne stated really can't be emphasized enough, Alot of these people selling don't have marketing degree's, as long as they cover themselves within the description of their layout they are selling in accordance with venue rules... the presentation often DOES leave much to be desired... Buyer Beware.. read VERY carefully always, When I was on the Buyers community bboard, and the Feedback Bboard we really saw some nightmarish scenerios.. Usually it's because "Well I assumed the seller was only going to charge me $5 S&H, Why should I pay a packaging fee as well of 20 bucks" ? These sellers are all their own businessmen, their own company with their own policy on Ebay which is (supposedly) venue only

If Jian is willing to take a 5% cut, I'd be happy to become a partner at 85% my share, Not because there's anything in it for me of course, just because I want to see my friends included in the world of free enterprise, hey, it's just the kind of guy I am

ANYTHING you two want, consider me a silent partner, just mail my little share to
XXXXX
btw, speaking of the Russians, Did you ever read what Mike Matthews is up against now having Sovtek tube company in Russia ? They are trying to make this individual an offer he can't refuse :( Make Matthews was the great inovator of Electro Hamonix, the Freedom Amps, and some of the FX we guitarists used way back when... all sorts of stuff in the early musicians market, When Russia's tube industry was going down, he purchased it, made it big, and now they want it back :(
