Know what Charmin .....while I can't simply say "Oh, well" to all the CH I T that has been flying around here ....  (after having been gone for nearly 9 months, I came back ... and found myself reading things in the SS and on the forums that were nothing short of DISGUSTING, NASTY, MEAN and downright HOSTILE ... certainly a LOT worse than anything happening when I "left") ..... I think your suggestion that someone is "banned" for a bit ..... is probably another really EXCELLENT suggestion.

As you said ... when acting like children (or bad citizens) ..... be treated like children (or bad citizens).  TIME OUT has been used very effectively with children (and adults ~ seems to me jail/prison is a form of time out, as well) for a real long time.

Maybe rather than trying to get rid of the features that are causing most of the problems (or change them slightly) ... what we really need to do is make people accountable for what they say and do.  Kick em' the heck out for awhile.  Let em think about their behaviors ... maybe make them read the FORUM RULES again during that time.

You may be on to something, here.

And heck...... we have ..... Matt, Jian, Lonman and Phill to patrol and make those "arrests" ..... so maybe that IS all that needs to happen.   :worship:

Gilly, by the time I did all the "well, he said...then she said"..... You could easily read the threads:) Besides, you'd get me adding all my snotty little tidbits and opinions, and you wouldn't have it all straight by the end of the telling.

(like that grade school game.. you think up a phrase, whisper it in someone's ear, then they whisper it to the next person.. and so on, and by the time it's to the last person, the phrase is NOTHING like the original?) Or am I the only one who sat in circles playing dumb games like that in 3rd grade?

Anyways, that was SO off-topic of me.

I'll try to sum it up in 250 words or less:

Pretty much, the anti-fluffers still hate the fluffing and want to speak out about it, the fluffers hate the anti-fluffers opinions being stated, in walks a newbie or two giving some real critiques and stirring people up, some swear it's a member here who formed a new identity to nitpick and so they start naming names, those names takes offense, all hell breaks loose, 500 people say they are leaving the site for good, 498 of them come back to fight after they think it over, groups are formed, swords and pistols are drawn (well, polls are made, but... play along with me... now I'm in story telling mode, Lmao)

That about sums it up.

(and is SO gonna get arrows shot at me if I don't just be a good girl and be quiet)

Arrows?!? haha... Woahhhh Pocahontas, this is NOT the reservation.

.

Charmin, can I buy the movie rights to this?  This is box office gold!  I'm seeing lots of digital effects here....

Time out. It really does work. This would be my first choice if asked what to do when someone becomes abusive.

Accountability is the most important thing.

Actually Charmin has a very good idea here, a one week time out/suspension from KS/SS for serious offenders.  But Jian, Lonman and Phill are SOOO lucky to get to make the decision as to who should be "arrested"!    LOL

LOL Yeah, yeah.... same ole, same ole...

Except hopefully all the time me, Cindy and Don have put into listening to what options people want and trying to make a difference will change things for the better.  I hope so.  Cuz if you look at the votes, you'll see that people do in fact want change.  Heck, you were the first one who suggested the "preview" button, remember?
