Only I, could say that with so much confidence.  :worship:

There is a difference in being falsely confident to hide some deep emotional thing and being confident from years of experience, running the world's best karaoke.    :hi5:  :dancin:  :oh yeah:  :worship:

I hope it doesn't really seem that way. Maybe I have bad timing so I'll take the hit for starting this thread.

It really was meant for a good friend of ours. His intials are SK. I don't want to mention his name unless he comes around.

If I may add it was intended in a positive way. That the person doesn't realize how
talented he is.

If I feel inept, does that mean I'm talented?

I should be more confident according to the article. LMAO

Actrually, when I first heard about this study I felt exactly the way I mentioned in the quote above. The problem is that at work I have to work with very "confident" people. They are very fast to put the blame on me when things don't go well for them.

we have those here also. In fact folk are inately suspicious of folk who take responsability for their own actions, far better to blame someone else who doesnt feel confident enough to stand up for themselves or worse still will whine "it wasnt meeeeeeee"

I have a job most people would envy a marketing and promotion job with a hotel and conference centre. I started a year ago with no formal training on a 3 month trial. One of the reasons I am still there is if I mucked up I walked straight into the boss' office looked him in the eye and told him I had f****d up. It was refreshing for him that I accepted responsibility, plus I guess it let him off the hook lmao. However I put the hours in in other ways to ensure I brought myself up to speed but not only that I made myself indispensible in other ways, taught myself how to use photoshop, learned how to create promotional videos that would have cost them thousands to get done otherwise. All this was in my own time. In fact the reason I stumbled onto this place here was I was researching karaoke machines that the hotel could hire to clients having functions in one of the 7 function rooms.
Was I inept? to a degree I was. Do I still make mistakes? hell yeah! Do I ooze confidence? Yep. But it comes from the knowlege I am valued by my immediate boss and he tells me often. Does my salary reflect the esteem he holds me in? Dont be stupid! I am a woman, but end of the day I like what I do and that is more important than the pay packet

I can't believe I didn't mention this before.

The only thing that this study proved to me was that people who are very negative about their abilities might be quite good at what they do.

This does not tell me that confident people have no reason to be confident. Some of them have worked very hard to earn that level of confidence and deserve it.

my suspicion is you are a pretty great guy.
All I was trying to say is dont let someone you may think does things better than you kick your butt
It is most likely you do things just as well just not as overtly

Thanks Morgan, your post made me think of mentioning that confidence is not proof of someone's inability. I glad you said it.
