Can somebody put a virus on a home burnt karaoke disc and infect the computer?

It could be engineered but I woudln't have thought these types of virus are widespread. more of a custom attack route.

There have been CD's that reportedly had such engineering on them :

Bigdog, yes...

WHich is why I always hated the thought of using a show pc with a cdrom... not only do I not want to have anybody accuse me of stealing shows, what if some dolt out there thought it was funny to infect another show? Or worse yet, be unaware that what he had contained a virus??

THe problem with having antivirus programs running is sometimes they may not be up to date, and they also take up some pretty good resources!

Good point knightshow, even when the anti virus software is up to date the virus can be so new that the software won't be able to do anything about it for a few days. That's more than enough time to wreck a system.

thanks chuck...

and I need to correct myself... that wasn't supposed to read "Stealing SHOWS" as much as "Stealing TRACKS" as in copying the customer's cdg...

I built my show pc around safety... to allow thumbnail drives, despite the temptation, would be to put it at risk... no thanks.
