Well I met Sharon & Rich last night. Too bad no one else was able to make it. I believe they had a pretty good time. Not a fluke slow night - avg'd 30 singers per round, they only got to sing 2 songs each - great job guys, really enjoyed the songs. Would've liked to been able to get back to your table a little bit more to BS with you. Maybe another time! May be able to set-up an official NW getogether with more confirmed people where Karaoke Scene could cover??? Another forum I am on does it at least once a year & they get people from all across the country meeting up for the 1 weekend. It's quite fun. We've had little mini get togethers at my shows.
Anyway, thanks for coming up Sharon & Rich, great meeting you & hope to see you guys again in the future.
30, that's a bit tough. Sure we have rotations that long down here, but I try and avoid them. That's why I often go out during weeknights.
One of my fav nights is probably Wed. I like to hit the Draught House first cause Wed is FREE PIZZA NIGHT and they have great home microbrewed beer and many others on tap

Seems it is always a trade off between very small rotation & singing a lot versus long rotation and singing little. At the extreme left you get to sing alot but no one is there to hear you. Yeah I've done that too -
. Other end you are lucky to get up, but many other people are interesting to watch and listen to. That's ok, but if it's a smokey bar it drives me crazy. Fortunately Austin has gone no smoking so inside town it's not a problem to go out. Outside in burbs is a different story.
Lately I've really been aware of the smoking issue. Couple of years ago I got pneumonia for the first time (no joy) and since then off and on I have asthma. Some parts of the year with allergies this can be very bad although this year I've been pretty fortunate as mostly gone. However singing and taking deep breaths in a karaoke bar full of smoke is tough. Asthma is always worse for the next week after I do this, so now I am very reluctant. Plus I heard of Christopher Reeds wife (a lounge singer) likely dying from second hand smoke. Now, I realize something will eventually take me down, but I don't want that to be it. I'd rather die from being sucked into a tornado, or falling off a mountain, or well anything cool and quick.
I realize I just gave all of you about 3 or 4 different possible threads of discussion here.
