Classical Gas goes back a few years.  For some reason just hearing that title, makes me think "Please come to Boston" is about to be played on the radio next

Steven, that might be just what we need!  Would put our mind somewhere else...

Oh yes.  That it would     I suppose it's a form of unity, when everybody in a site is rolling around on the ground laughing so hysterically they can't catch their breath.  Just make certain you don't have anything solid in your mouth you might suddenly inhale,  liquids are guaranteed to fly out your nose, and empty your bladders first !

No retro-trip intended, Kappy.

It's just that as someone who has played guitar since I was a wee thing -- I truly consider "Classical Gas" to be one of the all time virtuoso 12-string performances in modern pop music -- and, needless to say, pop instrumentals of that quality are a very rare thing. :)  Though admittedly, it may not be a reasonable recomendation as the symponic backing Mason Williams had to carry the song through may not be readily available in a karaoke cover.

Did you notice that someone actually posted a cover of "Telstar" in the showcase not so long ago? <<shudder>> not my taste, but different strokes for different folks.

Overall point being that instumentals are another option to singing.  Also you could play backup for one of the Showcases many fine vocalists -- just ask and I'll bet you can pick and choose from multiple offers.

I guess the final point is that (to me) the Showcase isn't just about singing -- it's about music and those who love it in whatever form it takes.

But if you want to sing -- I wouldn't try opera. (no disrepect to Michael's opinion) - Have you ever heard Hoyt Axton's very lowwww and growwwwly "Joy to the World"?  Now that's the kind of growl I can get into!

As to the rest of your post -- just glad to see your sense of humor is still intact :D  LOL  LOL
