I've been running the vocopro UHF-5800 at my shows.  I've had them for about a year, 5 shows a week and they are really a pleasant surprise.  I actually like them better than the wireless SM-58 that I own!

I was a little skeptical at first, but a KJ colleague of mine said that they had been running them and never had a problem.

It's really a nice setup--4 wireless mics with a single space rack mountable receiver.  If one of the receivers should go bad, you can slide it out and it won't affect the other three mics.  These are very durable mics, I've had several drops, and they haven't even dented the windscreens!  The range is also very good, again, better than my shure's.

I've owned other vocopro mics in the past (corded) and it seems like mics are the only thing that they do well over there.  I was very happy with those as well.

Wow - Bigmike - that is good info. I always wondered if vocopro came out with
something decent if anyone would notice. They have such a bad rep.

Robdogkaraoke loves vocopro's hard drive unit too.

I've seen a vocopro mic set being used at a show up the street from Tig's old place in Vancouver, WA. We both were a bit surprised at how nice those mics sounded.

Unsure of the model. Wish I'd have asked the kj.

Only thing of Vocopro's I hate is their player that's similar to the NuMark dual player they have!

I've been using the vocalpro 40 gig hard drive for about 3 months now on my second rig( only Saturday nights and some private shows here and there) But it's performed flawlessly so far. It plays divx files so there's a pooppile of converting to do at first but so far was worth it.

I've had a dual set of vocopro vhf for a couple of years, paid 90 bucks for the set, no problems, and have been told my setup sounds great on more than one occasion. I bought a nady-uhf from MF for 89 bucks a year ago, liked it so much, bought another one, a couple of months later........guess I'm just a cheap b@st@rd LMAO

I have a Audiotechnica 3000 I love.  I would suggest e-bay for a
great deal and you can stay in your price range.

A really good wireless mic is expensive.  I would stay away from anything from Vocopro. I have heard good things about RSQ wireless, but am not sure about the one you listed.

I would go with something that had several channels, true Diversity (operation selects the better signal from two independent receiver sections, reducing dropouts), and resistant UHF band operation.
Thanks Babs, very helpful.

Does the Audiotechnica 3000, have a proprietery protocal or an I use some other brand of compatible mic with it. I know I could have looked it up but I want to see Cookie again. She's a honey. :D

My KJ friend bought Hisonics.  First one went out in under 4 months.  It was still in warranty, but he asked me to look at it first (I'm an engineer).  Most of the internal structure was PLASTIC.  It stopped working because the coil wire broke.  Looked like an obvous drop of a mike not built for abuse.  Not repairable by me.  Company wanted something like $25 shipping and handling for the repair.  Might have been able to substitute the dynaic mike element from a cheap wired mike, but didn't think that would last, either.

I had VocoPro's at home and knew they were mostly brass inside.  I suggested he chalk up the Hisonics as a bad decision and try the VocoPros.  Lent him mine for a couple shows, and the sound was pretty good.  (It was the first time I'd heard them at that volume, so I wasn't sure).  He bought some and they've lasted two years -- dropped many times.

Bottom line:  VocoPro is a karaoke company.  They know karaoke mikes get abused and they build theirs to take it.  Other brands may have a bit better sound, but many can't take the abuse.

There are probably others that are buit to take abuse, I don't have experience with many brands.

If the mike is for customers as well as yourself, keep this in mind.

Just to let you all know.  I had a job this past weekend and my new Gemini UF-2064M worked perfectly.  Dual mics and ran out well past 200 feet with no interference and they sounded great.  I bought some rechargeable AA batteries and put them in and charged them up too.  Seem like a great buy and are very solid.  Very comprabable to the Shure I had at half the price.  Thanks.
