Quote: from what I remember Hoster used to have the ability to move the songs if a singer couldn't sing when originally called (Bathroom, out smoking). Not anymore as they got an idea that it wasn't needed. their present way of doing it forces a sing one bring one and once the que is set you can't give priority for new singers except by clicking skip on all the other singers in front of their songs.
I have been using hoster since 2002, It has always had the ability to drag and drop anywhere on the list so does hoster lite. I don't know where you come up with some of this off the wall crap you post. I do know one thing, You are trashing everyones software as being garbage other than the ones you like. I like to post facts, and let people decide on their own what they like.
I am not a dealer, But I have had 6 kj's this month come over and play with my system, ask questions........... and see MTU's hoster first hand, and buy the program. I know because I installed it for them. They are very happy with the results.

Has anyone tried Compuhost. I downloaded the demo and it looks quite good. I am just in the process of moving from CDG to PC based.

Sorry to disagree but I rememner from reading MTU's Forum that they announced that after a certain build they were doing away with being able to move songs already qued up to play. And no I am not trying top trash but feel that people ought to know the cons as well as the pros of a software before Wasting good money on it. Not that Hoster is a waste of money as it still has the best keychanger and MUltiplex function on the market, but I don't feel it's worth the upgrade cost to get the change that met the needs of myself since I decided that having the ability to auto drop requests into the que from a networked computer was more important than multiplex ability. That is the only reason I am not using my copy of hoster.

I understand now. You don't use it because it wont integrate with the computerized songbook program. Makes more sense now. Actually they had to ban Chip and MikeDombrowski because they were using so much of the MTU boards time trying to peddle that same software on their board. Were you one of the programmers involved in that software?

A question for someone about MTU. Is the only thing I need the Video Hoster from them? Does that have key changer built in? They also have something called Karaoke Suite 4. What is that exactly add other than ability to burn CD-G discs? I am down to between the Video Hoster and Compuhost. Thanks in advance for the answer.

Yes Hoster is the only program you would actually need to rip the discs & run the show. It will burn to it's own .kma format which is based on the wma platform - clearer/fuller sound over mp3's - yes some will argue. Only downfall (I don't see it as such) is that these files won't play on any other program. If you already have your music ripped as mp3gs, bin, zipped, it will play these as well. It does have a real time key changer built in. The Karaoke Suite is a prgram bundle which contains Microstudio - creates your own custom discs of the music you want from your multiple discs.
Vogone - vocal eliminator - works about as good as any other one.
KHPro - Produce you own karaoke discs, you make the words & swipes appear as you want. Can be used to create custom message discs as well.
Keyrite Pro - A key change program that you can actually change the key & burn it to a disc in the key you need. When you go to a show, you can have your disc already to go - no asking the host to change & possibly have them forget - it happens.

No I don't have any programming experience other than original basic that I learned in High School and I'm not using their software because of a few posts on djchat that turned me off. Besides I'm not gonna spend more for a program to send requests to me than I spent on the software I am playing the songs with. AutoKDJ has a simular program that is totally intergrated with it that works much like a webpage.
You just open up Internet Explorer and set the your homepage on the ip address/karaoke and it gives you a search engine to enter your songs with. They also have a front end that if you were using a barcode reader, you could create tickets that you could sell for $1 to enter the songs. I am sticking with the IE webpage format as I don't intend on charging to sing unless I'm doing a charity event.

Or for about the same price you could use the Sacks-O-Nuts with Kiosk which doesn't have the bar code feature, but it does keep the customers locked out of your network and the kiosk machine. If you need a browser, use a browser. If you need a kiosk, use Sacks-O-Nuts.

Video Hoster is all you will need for hosting shows other than a plextor burner to Rip the CDG into hoster.
The Karaoke Suite is all of their programs in one suite:
Hoster - Hosting Software
Microstudio - CDG Ripping and Compilations, and Copies
Keywrite - Key Change Software to rip and reburn in another key
KHPro - You can make your own karaoke songs
Vogone - Vocal eliminator
I have this package and basically I can do just about anything I want with karaoke files.

weed it's only the computer terminals connected by wires to the host machine, not wireless.

Yeah, but what's stopping some nasty person from reformatting your kiosk machine or getting through the fire walls which probably aren't up on that little lan and killing the host machine with AKDJ? Using browsers was one short-cut too many. But, it is free and free is good; to a point.

I got a show coming up and no money to print the books I need to print So I am stuck using the kiosk for one show anyway. I happen to think I won't use it in a bar situation or a private party that I don't know the people well enough to trust that they won't screw up my computers. The show I got on the 17th I know I don't have anything to worry about.
