Puking and karaoke don't belong together!! LMAO
That's so funny I'm not the only one who has had to deal with that.

THAT would be Don, calmly sitting in the corner sippin' his rum and coke... too cool to sing with all us crazy karaoke idgets. Must think he's too cool for ME cause I've been begging him for months now to get up there with me.

Charmin, why I oughta...... :madgo:   LMAO  :)    Too cool?  More like too scared  :fright: I told you I admire how karaoke singers can get up there and put their rep at stake even if it is all just for fun!  Being up there solo is a lot tougher then being in a band!  LOL

I know, I'm just being a bit of a brat.  :D I tend to do that at times.    It's all in fun though.

How do you all like the person that hands you a slip, then another, and another...next thing you know you have 15 songs up there that they want to sing and they are still handing you more. I politely say..."dude, there is no way you will get to all of these" and they still give you another. It makes me just want to yell..."This isn't the John sings karaoke all night long show...don't hand me another".

And that same guy has a list that he has to check ten times before he sings - each
time he checks his list he will tell you he wants to sing a different song. Before you even get to his turn he has changed his mind 10 times. By the time he sings I forget
what he told me and he can't remember either.  LMAO

Any of you ever get the singer with OCD ?   He put's a hankerchief in his hand so he doesn't have to make skin contact with the microphone and get germs.  He procedes to cover the thing over too ?

Sad thing is,  This guy is actually doing something sane  LMAO   ALOT of germs handling those microphones.... OF course the guy disappears after his turn singing... He's probably in the bathroom compulsively washing his hands 500 times while flipping the bar of soap every 25 scrubs....

(I mean, that's how I'd imagine someone with OCD would do something     )

I have people who cover the mic with thier hand, but I think it is because
they are trying to be cool. I hate it because I can't pick up their voice so they can be heard. Even when you tell them they still put their hand over the mic. Maybe they don't want anyone to hear them.

I keep hand sanitizer with me. If someone is obviously sick and coughing all over the mic I take some sanitizer, rub it on my hands and do a quick wipe of the mic. I'm tired of getting sick this year.

Crowded bar's are the ideal places to exchange germs too of course.

I can relate to Bab's customer I have a lady that does the same thing. When I finally get to her song and cant remember what she has decided on and she gets really pissed and pouts the rest of the night. I have a bring when one sing one policy in place now for that reason.

I don't see her much anymore but you gotta draw the line somewhere.

Kappy - I have Lysol pre-moistened towels in a container that are available when I have Cold and Flu people that must sing. I wipe the mic's down after they sing.

I personally like the "rock star" wannabes who hold the mic up and point it down at their nose. Who do they think they are? They're not that cool. Other than trying to look cool can anyone give me a reason for this pretentious act?

I can't give you a reason, but I've always wanted to do that. Fortunately, I have a very long nose, and my arms are too short to actually pull that sweet little manuver off. Also, pertaining to the handfull of request sheets handed to you by one individual.....when I sing at a venue other than my own, I hand the kj a slip for my next song, either right before, or after, I sing my song, wanting to never have two unsung song slips in his stack. HE/She should have no trouble remembering my spot in the rotation. Would you mind this method?.......johnny

The Pan Flute is the most authentic sounding instrument recreation in the KJ's Dr. T's Sing-A-Long Library.

Mic peeves:

*pointing it down towards their nose- stupid

*swinging it-dangerous and stupid

*puttting their lips on it -ewwww

*pointing it into the speakers - dah

*dropping it- drunk and stupid

*dropping it hard to their side-ignorant

*squeezing it at the chord so the chord detaches when they are singing

*covering it with their hand

* leaving part of the dinner on it- mega yuch!

*NOT SINGING INTO IT!

I put in Drowning Pools "Bodies" for the next rotation, and I end up sandwiched in Dixie Chicks' "Landslide" and Fugees' "Killing Me Softly"

It's still family friendly rules, but this is a 21+ bar where people drink smoke and try to get lucky.

I've got some new Urban songs I want to try out, but there's a lot of cowboy hats in the crowd.

More people go to the bar to drink than sing, while I'm barside waiting for my turn to sing I hear plenty "These guys stink" coming from the drinkers.

I have a solution to that. I purchased those colorful foam mike covers. I use them for a bit then throw them away. They are cheap enough and protects mics well, specially from those people who taps the mic to see if it's on.

Eben - thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately it is even a
worse situation when you use covers. They end up wet by the end of the night.
I'd have to change them every few singers. Not cost effective. I always encourage suggestions though.

There is a place that I go that has a guy thta is autistic who sings.  He tends to get the mic very very wet when he sings.  Because he is there 7 nights a week, the KJ invested in a special mic just for him with the foam covers.  The rest of us are very thankful for that....

We have one night that at least once and MANY times, more than once, they squeeze the button and disconnect the mic cord.  This happened Wednesday night, the guy was singing and all the sudden couldn't hear himself, when he went to switch mics with his singing partner the cord drops to the floor!  This only happens at one bar (knock on wood)....   We may end up taping the mic to the cord and taking that with us instead of just leaving with the mics...  I don't understand why this happens in only one bar out of all those we do?!?

Susie :)
