I just recorded a song today using Audacity, but I always get the same crappy results too. Miraculously, the Audacity didn't lock up like it usually does on my computer, but it has the same pausing/popping noises throughout the song.
I decided I was going to use it anyway, but then, I went to convert to mp3 with dbPoweramp and it said my free trial was over. Somebody wants $14.00 for a license to use it. :newlol:
All I need to do is convert to mp3 and I can submit it.
I'm recording on 1 track on Audacity from a cassette tape, then using a converter to re-do it in stereo to mp3. My way is not right, but it worked for the only sub I have here now.
If I can find another converter, I'll post that one.

C'mon Dave...we just want to hear you, although........you might not care to hear me. :newlol:

I'm too sceered to sub a song...I hate the way I sound...I'll just keep on singing at the clubs and let everyone there lie to me and tell me how great I am...But then I also figure if I was THAT bad live I wouldn't have people requesting me to sing songs or having people ask me to do duets all the time....

Dave, they can record you at Mary's...Make sure you take a tape...They may or may not still have tapes...They can also video tape you as well...I would suggest doing this on a slow night when Jaime is working...He prolly won't charge you....

And then you can talk to Johnny moore on here and he can tell you how to get it onto your computer..that's the way he does it.

Why don't you export with Audacity? Goto http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/windows and select
Optional Downloads
LAME MP3 encoder - Allows Audacity to export MP3 files.
These are the instructions
Windows
Go to the LAME download page.
Click on any link from the list of identical "lame-3.96.1" links.
When you have finished downloading LAME, unzip it and save the file lame_enc.dll anywhere on your computer.
The first time you use the "Export as MP3" command, Audacity will ask you where lame_enc.dll is saved.

I just may have to try and record...I was recorded twice...The first time I had no idea I was being recorded and when they played it back to me..I didn't believe them...The second time I was recorded I knew about it and when i got home and listened to it I was pretty upset...I still have the tape...If fact i just ran accross it the other day and listened to it...Bleh!!!!

Dave, everytime I try to export as mp3, it says I must locate the dll file and open it, but when it asks "would I like to locate the file now" , and I say yes, it says "could not locate the LAME library"???

I'm not a genius with this stuff...I don't know how to make it work.  :dontknow:

Would you know what this means? Thanks.

Hmm... I don't know what the popping is... that's kinda strange. Do you have a slow 'puter? I really like the sound of my audacity subs, but again, I haven't used anything else to compare them to other than studio.

As for the whole LAME library not being able to be located I'd say that's an installation prob. Maybe try unziping the file again since it really doesn't matter where you unzip the file to. That's just my 2 cents!

Dave, for crying out loud, we're not taking those LAME excuses anymore. (pretty witty, huh? lmAo)

Your soundcard is being funky, ya don't like how it sounds, the track is off, there's popping sounds in your recording, your PMS'ing......

Just sub a song already. Ya know what I think? I think you're being a chicken.  :D

So, be a good little Southern Boy, and make me EAT that comment.  :hi5:

Download the file...the link is right there where you download Audacity...save it to your desktop, then extract it to your desktop...it should give you a folder.  When it asks you where the dll file is, click through the desktop into that folder until you see that dll file listed.

PCornell, don't you read the posts? I went through the trouble to show you exactly what to do!

Yes ShyGuy. I don't know how I missed your post....maybe we posted at the same time? Anyhow, thanks for the info....I figured it out. I already had the LAME encoder installed in my files, I just didn't know how or where to browse to look for it. :dunce:  :newlol:

Thanks to everyone who helped me with this.  :D

I was finally able to convert my .wav to mp3, now all I have to do is submit in the SS if it'll take. I wasn't able to add effects or anything before I converted it, but when I sang the song with my karaoke player I had some echo in the sound. This recording pops so bad all through the song, I sound like stuttering John from the Howard Stern show. :newlol:

Lemme go submit this thing.

Oh man...I'm a technical misfit. :newlol: I submitted before I realized the whole song wasn't going to take. It needs to be 3MB or under, but my conversion was 3.62MB, therefore it only took 3MB of the song.  :banghead:

I'll have to resubmit the same song when I get home in a couple days...I leave in the morning.

Thanks Dave!

C'mon Dave...you're next! :newlol:
