First 8 Track was Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (first & last 8 track I bought except for blanks to record on) ok my Mom may have bought it, I was only 5 at the time, but I LOVED that tape - still do.
First vinyl I had was a gift, Kiss - Alive II.  Had several 45's before that, but don't believe any were mine that I could call mine anyway.  
First vinyl was Journey - Infinity & AC/DC - Back In Black (if I recall).  
First cassettes I bought were AC/DC - Highway To Hell & Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap.  
First CD's I bought were Pink Floyd - The Wall & Moody Blues - The Present.  
First music DVD I bought was Robert Plant & Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin) - No Quarter.

Then hopefully Perry, if it was "Dark side if the Moon" it wasn't when it was first released early 1973 that you bought it. (I think the Rush album was released about 3 years later) but still, While a bunch of us in High School at that time were sitting around smoking, drinking, and listening to "Dark Side" on a Fisher Quadraphonic system,  you'd have been 8 years old.. Not that there's anything wrong with an 8 year old stoner of course, hey, who am I to judge.. I didn't smoke but I was discovering what a match can do, (well, I put it to my mouth but of course never inhaled but not as young as 8 years of age)  :shock:   Alan Parson's I think engineered, or partially produced ?? Dark Side.....Stuff from that album was on billboard chart's for around 10-15 years, I think...MONSTER album !!  Since I'm yacking like "Cliff Claven" of Cheer's spewing all sort's of rediculous tidbits....I think Alan Parson's did some studio mixing, engineering, or something with the Beatles* too....

Oh hell no...I wasn't that young...I'm sure it was more like when I was 12, JR High age. That was the time when a big fat doobie could be had for the measely sum of $1.00.
And since I was poor, it took a long time to scrounge up enough coin to buy a vinyl. I'm just thinking that was the first one I ever bought. I remember being so fascinated by the album cover, I'd sit and look at it while listening and couldn't believe I finally bought it.
Good thing I got that stuff out of my system for the most part when I was very young. Hell when I was 18, I was already making babies, settling down and acting like a 30 year old should......borrrrrrring.
The bad thing is, I've been smoking cigarettes since I was about 9 or 10.  :shock:
I should be dead already.  :(

Would you believe I'm so far behind on the music scene that I'm just now beginning to appreciate the works of Bruce Springsteen?
I love the wind instruments and piano stuff in his music....sax is awesome!! Uhhhh...sex too.
My next karaoke rendition is going to be "Born To Run" I think, but I have to buy the cdg first.  :biggrinthumb:

Don't mean to be rude, but I'm getting ready to leave for a 12 hour work day....on Saturday!! Somebody's gotta pay those bills...and I'm sure it's me!!

The first music I received as a direct result of my request was the Black Oak Arkansas album with "Jim Dandy"...  I was either 12 or 13 and my grandparents got it for me for Christmas.  I remember grandma holding the album looking at the cover (I can't remember what it looked like) saying "Oh Susie" as she shook her head from side to side.  :)
