Define "scream".  Alot of hard rock has "screaming" in it.  Of course the singer should exercise some judgement and be able to modulate the sound/mic distance etc.   Certainly, some shouldn't be singing those songs in the first place.
Ready to accept flung arrows if you've heard my submissions.

but along that line, as a patron it does get a bit old to hear a whole night of country when one isn't into that.  Yeah, I know, go somewhere else.  KJ certainly can't/won't necessarily control the mix of genres

I'm sure banging the mic makes ya wanna kringe.
How about hearing the same song multiple times in a night - crappy songs or renditions only add to the headache (the other night somebody did that Meatloaf song-- paradise by the dashboard lights?  -- oh what a long an annoying song-- kinda like american pie)

How about thoses singers who think it sounds great cupping the ball of the mike with both hands and singing really loud into it. comes out of the speakers totaly distorted. And you see thoses little red peak lights glowing on your mike input. this bothers me when it's a decent singer with no experiace. makes a good singer sound bad.

But at least Paradise isn't the same all the way through like American Pie, it's kinda 3 seperate songs in one the way it changes, and it's a duet, so it's two people's turn in the rotation rather than just one usually.

Fair enough.  It IS a better song but long and meandering nonetheless.

Only one I can think of right now is I have 1 singer who thinks he is good, couldn't carry a tune in a bucket if he tried & generally does songs that are longer than 6 minutes or better.  No way I am going to tell him he can't sing as he is a huge supporter of the bar as far as spending.

The place that I go to sing: we have not one, but a few of those singers. We call them The Residence Singers. At least in my case I know I don't sing well  LOL  So I sing mostly in early parts of the evening when there are less people and keep my mouth shut when there are more people. LMAO
