I take multiple slips and prefer to do it that way. The order in which they are handed to me is the order I play the songs, I don't even look through the stack until I'm ready to pull the disc. Just because they turn in a song it doesn't mean that they will get to sing it. If a singer turns in one song and it is also in the "stack" of songs, the one with a single selection will get to sing it. The multiple request singer gets to sing another selection. I just tell the "childen" to play nicely and share with each other. As far as changing the order of their songs, they get one shot. If they come up wanting to shift things around, I hand them the whole stack and tell them to place them in the order the want to sing, no more shifting around.
The worst thing about multiple slips is a lot of them get wasted, (no big deal). Last night I had 32 singers in my first rotation, 2 hours 30 min. Needless to say, No one sang more than 2 songs. Some people want to turn in 8-10 slips and expect to sing every one because they turned theirs in first. As we all know, It just doesn't work that way. Catch the "Spirit"

I prefer to have more than one slip at a time...... I enter them all in the computer, and set up the rotation as much as three rotations ahead. with all the remaining slips on the bottom of the list. as I need more, I drag and drop them into their rotation place. Saves me sitting behind the computer all the time.

About 60% of the time, I can call the next singer from a wireless mic from out in the audience, as the screen shows the next 2 singers up. It works well with me. But I cant say it would work for all.
