I'm pretty bored with all the places I've been going lately.  Same ol' same ol'... everyone sings the same stuff over and over and it's the same line up every weekend (with the occasional smattering of a new voice here and there.)  I think I'll give karaoke a rest for a while and see if any of that changes.

In that case you need to move on from Karaoke, to "Open-Mic Nights".

You take your tracks on minidiscs, no words on screen, you need to know your stuff.
What's better is the fact that you don't do one song, then an hour later another. You do all your songs in one slot, so that you really get warmed up. You also have the freedom to PERFORM the song rather than be "bound" by the screen.

I still attend karaoke but open-mic takes your singing to the next level.

Personally, I like my image just the way it is. I don't need to improve on it (unless you have some really wacky suggestions that would fit my CUEBALL personna).

Yes indeed--have fun!  Fun with the whole thing.

Okay some crazy stuff:

- Start crying when singing a sad country song and have someone bring you a beer while you are singing.

- Mis-spell the letters when singing YMCA.

- Talk about how sad and lonely you are and that is why you have to sing the blues.

- Start a popcorn fight.

ENOUGH ALREADY

I tell people to clap when a singer is done, because they were either good or, because they are done, the choice is yours, but clap!  :oh yeah:

Thanks Mustang.

I'm a really good clapper until I take off in my own little world like everyone else does LOL.

My KJ likes to put on the comedy act and engage the audience.  I try to help out with some taunting and hooting of my own.

Before I show up at a place, I always hope for a group of drunk women up dancing.  They are so easy to please :)

And for those of you who always expect to captivate the audience, try a nursing home LOL.

I personally don't care to improve my image amongst "Bar Regulars" lol
I would rather work on my image with music enthusiasts.

One of the misconceptions associated with today's karaoke, in my opinion, is that persons seems to associate with "oh god here come the drunks".  Rationale is that in i would say from 95% to 100% of locations which feature karaoke seem to be bars only.  So why wouldn't people associate with drinking.

Trust me, i party as much as the next guy, but it bothers me that more people don't understand what the new breed of musiciains are.  We go to karaoke to gather our peers opinions of new sounds and ideas that maybe we are trying to introduce.  Besides that, karaoke is the one place that we know we will find others who enjoy doing what we do.  Listen and perform music.

Even with all of the above said, I have to say this.  With places like SS here, Streaming Media on the ww.net is gonna definitely add character and depth to more person's ideal of our community.  I'm looking forward to packed arenas again, cause now-a-days those arenas are hard to find.
~~~Randy.
Points at Dave-Sinatra. Hey HE started it!!!!  I go, I have fun.  But I don't go very often, so I've never been a rgular.
I smoke like a chimney, so there, I've made half of ya mad.  Someday this head might get in the right place so I can quit, but there is a LOT of tobacco under the bridge you want me to blow up LOL
I'm lucky because I was a regular at the bar I frequent BEFORE they started having a weekly Karaoke night....We just sing and have fun and hope that everyone else enjoys it and doesn't run for the door screaming!
I'm in a resort area, so this time of year, there's lots of new faces around.  We had a gal a couple weeks ago that needs to get a record deal RIGHT NOW, she was so good.  The only time it sucks is when we get a bunch of "i'm so cool" frat guys who make fun of everyone.  That really frosts me....
