Ok, Just read my post to my Hubby and asked him who he had brushed with and here's his:
1. He met Dottie West at the Columbia County Fair in New York , the year she died. Got her autograph.
2. Met Donny and Marie Osmond at the Mormon Ranch here in Florida...They had a concert there...He said he fell in love with "Marie".."yes sir buddy!!" He said, "I helped her get on her horse" ps. He was a cowboy (real one) then...(He worked on that Ranch..)
3. He's met Tanya Tucker at a Rodeo in Okeechobe, Florida where she performed at a Rodeo he was participating in. He said she was really gorgeous back then!!!
4. He met Chubby Checker at the Columbia County Fair, in Chatham, New York. Got his autograph...(which reminded me that I had too, here in Orlando is where I met him at a small concert )
5. Met Huey Lewis and the News at that same fair, got all their autographs..
6. At a 76 truck stop in Slidal (sp), Louisanna, he had coffee with the Oak Ridge boys...He was having coffee with some guys and they came in and asked to join em...They were on their way to a concert...Super nice people he said!
Wanted to add those too, hope that's cool ...

Hi Menephes and everyone!!! This is such a great thread!! Such a refreshing subject and so fun!! I loved reading all your "meetings"! Well... my 1# claim to fame is meeting Rod Stewart!!
A very good friend of mine built Rod Stewarts stage for one of his concerts and makes custom mic stands for Rod Stewart among other things. He asked me if I wanted to go and hear a sound check practice in a backlot sound studio of Warner Bros... he needed to make some adjustments on the stage. I had nothing better to do so I went!! haha!! It was one of those metal grate type stages that you can run up and down on. Not wanting to be an obvious fan.. I pretended to be a secretary taking notes!! haha..again!! When we arrived...his manager Malcolm (who by the way was very nice) said he was not going to sing but only going to do a sound check and listen to the band... He ended up singing several of his songs. I met him and flirted with his band members.. My husband was near by so I was good! HaHa!! Well I've been good all my life.. so nothing new there...!!
Anyway.. that was fun!! ....
My daughter acted with the kid Evan on "The Complete Savages" and went to school with him. She saw him recently at "Homecoming".
I have met several other celebrities but my husband has had dealing with many..in his earlier years when he was a musician.
Well... you know what they say about people in California... fruits and nuts!!
Have a Happy Holiday!! Love Dona!!

wow being a musician in the 80s out in hollywood california i have a lot of these kind of stories...my band shared the stage with bands like Guns and Roses, Warrant, and Faster Pussycat just to name a few....one of my favorite stories was one night while hanging out in hollywood a guy with a tophat fell facedown in a crosswalk and my friend and i went over to help him up and it turned out it was slash from guns and roses (before we played onstage with them) and i said to someone "who is this wasted dude" and someone said back "hey man thats slash" to which i replied "what the hells a "slash" "....little did i know........
i have shared the stage with rob halford from judas priest, we did a song together out in phoenix, i was supposed to meet billy idol the night he got into his motor cycle accident that almost claimed his life...if you wath the movie the doors he is using a cane, that is why...that night he was coming to listen to my band to possibly back us...his guitarist steve stevens was a close bud of mine and always begged billy to come check us out....ive partied with metallica, helped jonny winters and night ranger find some drugs (back when i knew where to), witnessed steven pearcy from Ratt after hours doing huge amounts of cocaine of the bar to which i was sworn to not say nothin about it ever (whoops) and probably my proudest moment was coming in the top 5 finalists to be Lita Fords guitar player only to lose out cause my hair was blonde...i reached the top 5 out of 400 of la's best guitarists...she loved my playing, and style, and my look other than my blonde hair...she apologized to me and another guy for weeks cause she thought we were the better players...if i had got that gig i would have been in the kiss me deadly video months later.....
i also delivered flowers out in hollywood and delivered to more stars than i can mention, but my favorite was bruce willis' mom on mothers day and he answered the door and told me to be quiet and we snuck in and surprised her...he is a class act all the way...tipped me a 100 dollars by the way !!!!!

Ya'll can't beat my brush with fame!! I've had the pleasure of going to the abode of and bar hopping with the wildly famous, perpetually cute enormously friendly and absolutely the funniest person I've ever met:
**pauses to build up the tension**
I've been to the lily pad!!!
Yeps, I've met our own famous (or is it infamous?) Melly! Not only that, but I've met her entire family! What a treat! Gracious, funny and a beautiful soul our froggy has!! If you're EVER in Colorado, give her a call! You won't be sorry you did!!

I guess I have one I can add to this thread.
Last fall a friend of my husband & mine came back to our little town to go pheasant hunting. He brought with a bunch of people for the week. My husband ran into him a few days after he'd been in town and he told my hubby that one of the guys with him was a member of ZZ Top but that's all he'd say.
Later that night hubby & I are at a bar and run into the friend with his buddies. We end up going out to eat in a different town and I got to sit all night beside Dusty Hill and chat while we watched the World Series and ate steaks and walleye. He was extremely nice and I completely forgot who I was talking with (he was going by an alias of course to protect his privacy - I won't mention it here) until the beginning of the game and Nick Lachey is singing Star Spangled Banner and Dusty says, "My good friend Richard Marx sang the Banner at one of the playoff games." I said, "Oh really?" so nonchalently until it dawned on me who the "Richard Marx" was he was talking about.. .
He did his "har har har" and talked a lot about the coupe. It was a great night. In fact we kept quiet about who he was so he could enjoy the rest of the trip and a few days after he left someone says to me, "Why didn't you tell us you'd rubbed with the rich and famous" -- I had totally forgotten that he was not just a regular joe!

Growing up in California... I always had the acting bug! While attending acting workshops and running to auditions... I did a LOT of extra work in movies and TV! I met quite a few .... some were nice.. some .... on one call I got to the set late (that is a BIG no no!) They wanted me to change into a dress... already stressed out ..I scrambled to find a place (in this small trailer) to change.... as I was putting on my pantie hose.. James Woods walked in... I was startled... he smiled and said "HI I'm Jimmy!" I screamed "I'm trying to change here!!!!" To which he profusely apologized and left!! All was well though.... he was VERY nice after that! The funny thing was.... I had just seen a movie with him in it where he played this creepy bad guy.... and it really startled me when I saw his face hahahaha!

Wellll.... lemme see.... 'Red Heat' with our Cali Gov Arnold Schwartzenegger (no groping ) and Jim Belushi... I played a flight attendant... had make-up people hovering all around me in the terminal at LAX.. which was supposed to be O'Hare in Chicago. I pulled luggage... wore painful heels... stood around all day long.... couldn't do much since the makeup and hair people were anal about me doing ANYTHING! Arnold joked around... smoked cigars... ate donuts ... smoked more cigars! I spent two loooong days in that terminal!!! They had so much lacquer hair spray on me ... it took days to get it all out! When the movie finally came out.... you could barely see the back of my head walking by Arnold hahaha.... story of my life! I'm on the cutting room floor!! My poor Mom... she had told everybody about it!!! Waaaaaaaaaa...
Did work on a TV show called Falcon Crest a number of times... that was way cool... cause I watched the show.... and to see the set.... that was really funny... everything looked so much smaller..... it's amazing all the time they take to set up the shortest scenes.... it's painstaking and boring... but I loved it! The hours were crazy... and long... sometimes the locations were scary.... I had a not-so-dependable car... and went on location for a John Carpenter movie ('They Live'... I believe was the name of that one) down in the skid row area in L.A. It was a 4 AM call... I was petrified as I drove through!!!
Did it for a while.... probably over a two year period... most of the films probably not even well known... except to me!
<<<for those goin' huh? Who's James Woods heheh!

Oohh these are great...
Let's see here...
I got to go backstage and meet Alabama...Randy Owens kissed my hand and winked at me (i was 11)....my hand is gettin dirtier every year from not washing it.
I had to reset John Stockton's (Utah Jazz) voice mail and teach him how to set it back up when I worked at AT&T Wireless...
Toby Keith pointed at my daughter at his concert...then I begged the drummer for his drumstick...and talked my way backstage only to see Toby's butt walkin away (Lemme tell ya, I was SATISFIED!!!)
I got to sing with Aaron Lines (country singer - Can't Hide Beautiful) on stage...that was a blast!
My mothers friend talked to Barbra Streisand...she was fixing her vision insurance for her new hubby.
My good friend smokes cigars with Morgan Freeman on a frequent basis...
but my ALL TIME FAVORITE!!!
My fiancee sold Jim Carey a toilet at the Home Depot about 6 months ago....I about died...all he could think about when he finally figured out who it was, was the scene from Ace Ventura...talkin out his butt

too kewl guys! I have a couple, but they're really mild in comparison!
Bumped into Julia Roberts at a B.Dalton's Bookstore in my hometown in Kansas City. Literally. I thought she was who she really was when she was browsing the bookstore, but it was painfully obvious that she was trying to be invisible, so I quit staring and went on my way, thinking myself pretty lucky to have seen her. Without makeup, she's really plain. She also had on dark glasses and a scarf, so it was hard to tell for certain.
Until I went to the line at the counter, and she was in front of me. I'm 6' and she's about 5'3" or 4". Anyway, she turned to leave, and bumped RIGHT into my ample gut. Fell RIGHT on her keister! ! She looked up at me, and I stared down at her... and she asked me "Are you alright?"
I grinned and said, "I'm not the one on the floor, Ms. Roberts!" She at first grew panicked that I knew who she was. I helped her stand up and she didn't know what to say other than thank you.
She was still upset, but relaxed right afterwords. I put my books on the counter, pulled out my wallet, and turned to her. She was really vulnerable... kinda embarrased, so I told her, "I really loved "Steel Magnolias". You had me crying like a little girl! And I adored "The Pelican Brief".
She smiled, and that seemed to finally relax her. She admitted that she really loved Denzel Washington's movies, and it was such an honor to work with him. By this time the clerk had recovered enough to ring up my books... I paid for them, the whole time nodding with what Julia said. Finally, it did seem like an eternity, but it was in reality only about twenty seconds, Julia looked like she was hunting for a way out of the conversation. I thanked her for her time, and said I was really priveledged to meet her. She acted like she was hunting for something, and looked to me for a bit of help. I was at first dumbfounded what she was doing, and then realized that she was looking for a pen or something.
"Oh, you want to give me an autograph or something?" ((TALK about something stupid to say! !)) She smiled and said yeah... and then I stopped her by saying "It's okay.... I wouldn't know what to do with it anyway. When I got Bob Conrad's autograph on a napkin, it was merely to show people I'd actually met him. Don't know what happened to it! How about we just say 'goodbye'? I know I'll remember today for a long time!"
She just lit up. "That's really sweet. So many people want something from someone else. It's rare to meet a real person nowadays!" She kissed me on my cheek and went on. There was a bodyguard out in the hallway watching the whole thing, but seemed to know he didn't need to step in.
I told my roomie about it that night and he called me the biggest f*n liar he'd ever met. I grinned, knew I couldn't convince him of it and dropped the subject... until two months later when he called me into the front room... Julia Roberts was being interviewed by some critic, and he had asked her what her response to her fans was. She had mentioned her favorite moment was meeting a big bald guy in the midwest that just wanted to talk to her. And that she had been so flabbergasted she didn't know what to do... time was pressing, but she didn't want to stop talking with him. When asked what she'd say or do to him now, she blushed and said she'd give him a big ol' kiss.
I was thunderstruck. It was real kewl seeing that, and then the look on my roomie's face as he's exploding "DUDE!!!!!"
