Rumbolt, it doesn't matter to Lone Wolf if the tracks are stolen and unlicensed, he is just fine with using pirated material based on his own responses. Save your typing fingers, as my wife once told me "you are not the jackass whisperer so quit trying to get through to those who will not listen"

I just glad I never went that route. I'm pretty sure it hasn't been done for the same reason the gem set has not been pirated. There's no need for the pirates to waste their time doing it becasue all of that material is already out there in the pirate world. kjflorida wrote: Rumbolt, it doesn't matter to Lone Wolf if the tracks are stolen and unlicensed, he is just fine with using pirated material based on his own responses. All I said is that "I can't believe that someone hasn't done it and I'M GLAD I NEVER WENT THAT ROUTE" meaning I never bought the drive or tried to unlock it. If you think about it there are others here that have bought the drive and bitched about having credits they can not use and have wasted cold hard cash for something they could not use! If I had bought one of their drives and could not use it believe me I would have been reversing the charges to my credit card. You can think what you like but you DON'T know if I have a horse in this race. Can you state FOR A FACT that I even run a show? If so show me where I have said that in the last year! (which is what i meant by how do you know I even have a horse in this race) If I were you I wouldn't be so critical of those you don't know! SHOW me anywhere that I have supported PIRACY! I am not a SC Cheerleader like you and I would never ever kiss their behind like you did to get out a pending law suit!

As long as you had credits logged in the machine (offline ), then you could use it. If however you didn't transfer them offline then they are useless.

I dunno... My Luddite attitude aside, at over $2 per track, this makes for a VERY expensive disc's worth of tracks ($30-$40) per.
I DO understand that you get get to select exactly the songs that you want, as opposed to a fluff factor.
On the other hand, some of the "fluff" that I never would have thought to buy has ended up being very popular and often used....
Just thinking out loud, trying to balance out to a solid opinion.....
KJflorida:
From the statement that you quoted:
""I can't believe that after all this time that someone hasn't figured out the unlocking encryption code for the media pro and unlocked all their songs. I just glad I never went that route."
I get just the opposite impression that you state. He is saying that he HASN'T gone that route- meaning he is NOT a pirate.
Why would you think otherwise- or for that matter, specifically claim and publicly post that someone here on the forum is a pirate without any proof?
This never used to be your style ( or more specifically Athena's and yours)....

Joe it's not the host picking the songs. It's your customers. So it is possible for what a host considered fluff might get picked.

Waiting to see what happens. My hard drive crashed, lost my credits. Will hold off posting until I see how this pans out for me.

I e-mailed them. The old KJ Media Pro is nothing more than a paper weight now. You will not be allowed to access anything on that drive with this new system. So, I don't think I will bother. Got screwed once. Not gonna go that route again.

The cost of the original KJPro system was for the external USB drive. A drive which you still have and can re-format and use any way you like. Hardly a paperweight. The new system does not even require you to buy a drive...you can just download them all. I am on the fence due to the new song cost, but I don't feel "screwed" by this information...just disappointed.

I feel screwed also. I joined the program abou 6 weeks before they went belly up. $100 buck for the drive + $180 for Compuhost, I was a Karma user. Then came the credit purchase.
So now I would have to dish out ANOTHER $100 for Compuhost and $30 activations fee (although they did say in an email that they would wave the activation fee because I was a previous user)
So what happens if they go belly up again in another couple of months?
I do one show per month at a bar and maybe pick up one or two private karaoke gigs a month. The math is not adding up for me.

I do one show per month at a bar and maybe pick up one or two private karaoke gigs a month. The math is not adding up for me. But... You still have Compuhost to use for your $180. You still have the songs unlocked to play for your paid credits. You still have a $100 USB drive for the $100 KJpro fee that you can re-purpose. So that's a wash. Still don't see where you were screwed. As for the new, you would have to pay the upgrade fee to go to v2 anyway, regardless of KJpro or not. And if they are waiving the $30 fee, all you do is buy credits, which you could unlock even if they do go "belly up". I understand the economics, I am on the fence myself due to the new song costs. But where exactly is the screwing taking place?

But where exactly is the screwing taking place? 1. I didn't want or "need" Compuhost, except for the unlocking of songs. 2. Yes, I do still have the songs that I unlocked, but at a higher cost per song considering I had to purchase the drive and Compuhost. 3. I didn't need another drive, except for the use of the media pro. And I now have to reprint my books, for a second time, due to the media pro songs. I signed up for the program because I was under the impression that I would have new releases downloaded as they came out. That way I did not need to wast money purchasing several disk each month. I recieved ONE update. So I have still had to purchase disks, or downloads every month. In my eyes I'm out over $800 for the 15 or so new releases that I did get via the media pro. AND if I did decide to go with the media pro again, I would need to wait until I use up my current credits, which would take months because there are no new songs to be had or, loose them. Here is the email I recieved from the sales team: Thank you for your interest in the new MyKjMedia Karaoke Content Delivery solutions.
Answering your inquiry,
First, as a past Chartbuster KJ Media Pro HD user and as a courtesy to you, we'll be happy to waive the $29.95 activation fee as it applies to the new MyKJMedia KJ Media Pro service.
However, please be reminded that Chartbuster, the previous licensee of the KJ Media Pro HD program closed its' doors and ceased operations in May/June 2012. We've unfortunately been made aware of the fact that immediately preceding their closing, they were actively promoting and selling hundreds of credits to possibly unsuspecting users at "fire sale" discounts, evidently without disclosing that immediately upon closure of the business, the distribution licenses as they applied to the song selections would be rendered invalid. Consequently, the previous Chartbuster selections are no longer licensed and therefore may not be legally distributed or unlocked/purchased within the new KJ Media Pro service as administered and marketed through MyKJMedia.
Finally, regarding remaining, unused credits previously purchased through Chartbuster, all requests to transfer remaining Chartbuster credits to the new MyKJMedia KJ Media Pro system must be directed to, and require prior authorization from the applicable content licensee/provider, currently DigiTrax Entertainment LLC. You may wish to contact them directly with such a request.
We hope this sufficiently answers your inquiry.
Have a great day/evening, Sales Team Karaokeware Inc. Media Services DivisionYep, SCREWED!!!!!

I tried to purchase the harddrive, just before chartbuster closed it doors. I think it's the only time I've ever been grateful that a company didn't answer their emails. So when compuhost announced the new update I was eager to take advantage especially since the new media pro is a lot more suitable to access for those of us across the seas.
Needless to say I took the plunge, really impressed with how easy it was/is and I'm happy to pay the $2 for a track a customer wants.
The problem is the songs currently available, I've added the KJ Media pro to my existing hard drive of predominantly songs popular in the uk and compuhost has told me I've gained approx 6000 new tracks. However, many are duplicates owing to spelling (Emelie Sande vs Emile Sande), naming differences (ft, &, and, feat. etc) or that the media pro uses the dewey decimal system and I don't (Brad Paisley vs Paisley, Brad). I can not edit the names of the Media pro tracks to tidy things up either.
I had 2 requests last night for songs, not listed in the 10,367 I previously owned . . . neither of those tracks were on the kjmedia pro.
It's going to take a long time for me to use up my 100 credits and I'll still be using selectatrack.com for a while since so many tracks are country and I'm going to continue with the monthly disc updates so I have a physical product to sell or pass on to another generation.
At the moment the actual product wasn't worth the money but potentially it really could be, I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
ETA: I really don't know how to explain what it is to customers - because I don't want to list the tracks in my song book but I want they to know if they want it I may have it. . . so I've opted for 'Wibbly-Wobbly Timey-Wimey stuff'

And I now have to reprint my books, for a second time, due to the media pro songs. I guess my glass is half full. I am in the same boat, yet I don't feel "screwed" at all. Disappointed? Certainly. It was a great system that I wish still worked, but I got everything out of it that I paid. I still use Conpuhost which I believe is the "best of breed", I used all my credits that I paid for and I am using the USB drive as a backup. I re-print my books quarterly anyway. Since you feel so strongly about it, why don't you just sell your USB drive and copy of Compuhost on eBay and recoup a good 50%-75% of that money? You can keep the songs you unlocked. That would certainly lessen the blow you feel you have received. DJCC wrote: Here is the email I recieved from the sales team:

Actually I am very happy you posted this as I did not know they were waiving the fee, which was a sore subject for me as well. It's only $30, but it was on principle. I may take the plunge now.
