I don't see how. Especially if the content can be copied to another hard drive. Since nothing has to be connected to the internet to unlock.

You are kidding right? There is no difference at all when it comes to songs books. Those songs are available for patrons to sing. Whether they are owned, leased, on CD, on a disk, locked or unlocked is none of their concern. I would want to print ALL the 11,000 KJ-Pro locked songs in my books or kiosk so that my patrons know they can sing them if they want. Then if they put it on a slip, it gets unlocked.

Don't get me wrong, I love CH and will sing it's praises. But they have dropped the ball on Fast Tracks, especially since they charge for updates.

[NEWS FLASH! - A FastTracks "interim update" was just released that adds the GEM listings! Coincidence? :wink: ]

Looks like the ball may have been picked up!

They have not dropped the ball at all. You simply export ALL of the CB listings from the KJMP drive as CSV, then import into FT. Wah lah...you can now show your patrons all 11K + lisitings (and unlock as needed).

When did Fastracks start charging for updates. I get mine free when I bought the software, I had the option to get unlimited updates and i did (now granted it was a onetime upcharge) and the cost was (if memory serves me right it was $29.00.

How did CB drop the ball? The songs i have added are exported from Compuhost out to Fastracks for printing, no problem?

Sure, you can ALWAYS do it all yourself...manually. But they offer an Auto Update subscription service that is supposed to be a quick, easy, one click entry and until Monday night, the GEM series was not part of that service. The KJ-Pro still isn't.

I guess you are saying the $39 annual subscription is pointless and I tend to agree. I had assumed that the FT auto-update service would save me time, and things like Genre's, Duets, would already be pre-coded so I could easily print, say a "Broadway" or "Country" book. They are not. Save the money and just import yourself as described above as the service really doesn't do much more than that.

So, let me re-phrase. They have dropped the ball on the Auto Update subscription service which they claim is "The most accurate and comprehensive songbase in the industry".

Not sure, but there is no such thing as unlimited now...you only get 90 days with purchase.

I posted on invicion's forum about the lifetime subscription issue and according to them I still have mine. I wonder if it is only offered to those when they first buy Fast Tracks.

From within CompuHost you have the option of exporting the lisiting of the entire KJMP drive as CSV. Which is what I am doing. I imported that list into my book. And whatever song is requested that I don't have I will unlock during the show.

Update on the subscription issue. Because the agency that deals with credit cards decided to not allow the unlimited subscription, Invicion no longer does lifetime subscriptions. They however will honor those who signed up for it before the change in policy.

That was my exact thought as well.

If it come down to the cc processing company I'm sure there are other cc processors that would be more than willing to accommodate them and be more than happy for the additional business.

Well once again, these forums prove to be an abundant wealth of MISINFORMATION! (Always by the same misinformed posters, we all know who they are!)

I contacted a friend that works in credit card fraud control. He confirmed what they said. Companies that offer any type of lifetime product or service pose an increased risk to credit card issuers, since if they were to go out of business, the issuers could be left holding the bag. He referred to it as the Contingent Liability Risk. Much higher discount fees are imposed on companies offering lifetime service, some as much as 3x the rate. So if CH decided to eliminate the service to reduce their fees, that's their choice! By the way, they were the only ones offering it, and they probably offered it as long as they could.
