See Keith !   I knew when it comes to vacuum cleaners, that THIS is the place to ask !   See all the combined interest and knowledge in vacuum cleaners the women in here have ?   It's just awesome ! LMAO

Whenever there's a Lull,   I post something that might tend to reverse the male/female roles... and no more vacuum in banter !

We're trying to unite the Singers Showcase and the bboards !   Figured if Critiquing and singing chatter won't do it..  Nude males will... But I'm heading back to the Singers Forum because quite honestly nude males don't do much for me... In fact, I'm washing my hands of this thread... Any thread I start that ends up with a guys nude butt in it grilling sausages I hand over to somebody else... So as you will see,  the title of this thread is about to change..

I know nothing about Oreck.  Seems pretty popular because of the lightness.  Other vacs are heavy

Yes,   they are VERY heavy,  and for older people horrible for landings and stairs for that very reason.  Even assuming you remove the upright vac handle and attach the beater head and the portable handle it's still not the type of thing my mom (who has arthritis) would be able to handle on steps..  Also, with pet hair, kirbys aren't that good..  Yet for a larger single story type area, they are pretty solid..  Worth over 1K ?  Of course not but NOBODY really needs to pay that.. They just try for that.. yet they'll take under 500 for a new vacuum rather than lose the sale..

and yep... I like my Kirbys.  They suck !!!

I liked the salesman who demo'd ours to my mom when I was a kid. When he dumped all that junk on the floor I was so excited! LMAO After that, that was the only kind of vacuum she would have, and they really couldn't afford it. AND, at the time she only had one small livingroom area to vacuum. They are so loud! I have to say though, it always kept her carpet looking like new.

ohhh and kappy my "sissyfied boy-toy" cycles 50km per day...the other weekend he cycled 40km to mt somers climbs to the top (1000 meters) then climbs back down and cycles 40km home...and still has the energy to do the errrr vacuuming  :yum:
He walked the length of the south island from picton to bluff not via road but through the high country some years ago, and next year while i am visiting the USA is intending to go to Nepal to walk into base-camp
He may be a boy toy but he's no sissy ;-) he passed his military required fitness level the other day in better times than soldiers half his age
