And the reeds!  Expensive not-so-lil buggers, very delicate also

Yep.  When I managed a music store I even learned how to make them :) Just tried an english horn and oboe however. Since I conducted I have a fairly decent knowledge of orchestral isntruments and those read aren't inexpensive like the Rico clarinet and sax single reeds that's for sure..  Have you made your own double-reeds yet ?   and Yep,  Cherry wood hand turned and conical bored from an 8 foot block of wood CAN puy it at around the most costly of the orchestral instruments.  They started at 15K when I last priced them (and this was YEARS ago). I think Buffet was a huge manufacturer of Bassoons. Around the male bari range, and I think bass and tenor clef, it was capable of quite a range as I recall from the music.. Anyway... Strad violins and baby-grand piano are more costly of course but all and all there's really no such thing as an inexpensive halfway decent bassoon...  Sorry matt,  I'm outta this thread  LOL

Gosh, all we need are:

*A coffee can thumper
*A gallon jug blower
*A washboard strummer

and, if we could find one of these rare people...

*A hamboner

Then we'd be all set.  :D

I dunno Babs.... I wagered a silly guess.

I can't fathom the meaning though. You got a bowl (or salad plate) with silverware... and a miniature fiddle.

There's got to be some meaning behind it- or Kappy wouldn't have it as his avatar.

Kappy.... ??

NOW do you see why I spend so much time on this site ?  That avatar is what my mind conjures up if I try to get creative. That photo was the result of what happens when I leave the computer to buy a digital camera, and start a photo album on Flickr :(   It's my attempt at photography.  That's the violin I photographed last year Charmin.  Remember ?  I showed photo's of it next to a quarter. {wanne see my Pansy?}   It'll cost you !

That is your own photo? Wow what an imagination Kappy. Cool idea. I would have thought a professional photographer made that. You may have found a new calling.

Bab's,  I'll post the photo as it actually shows in the "Kappys Split personality" thread.  I'm not going to spam matts thread anymore with OT banter,  it's not right.
