Stick with that for now -- the XM8500 won't be that much of an improvement. (Actually I have two of those I will test soon, and I will try to remember to update this with results compared to the industry-standard Shure SM58, which some people say the XM8500 is as good as.)
I have tested the XM8500 now, and while I don't like them quite as much as the SM58 for my voice, bear in mind I don't like the Beta 58 as much for my voice either. The XM8500 is quite a good mic, but it has just a little more handling noise than the 58.
It still is better from a sound and handling noise standpoint than a PG48 or PG58, and blows away all the cheap Nady and Audio Technica mics I have seen people use. I think the XM8500 is about the best mic you are going to find without spending the $100 for a 58 or a Sennheiser 835. And it is only $20.
