ACtually....... give her childrens Tylenol, then when it's time for a 2nd dose, give her childrens Advil..... rotate the two. MUCH better at breaking a fever than just sticking to one.

Hope she gets better soon... I always hated when my kids got sick, I felt so bad for them. Cuddle her in a (not too warm) blankie and hold her on your lap and watch cartoons with her.

All we ever give the kids is children's tylenol or advil. I went to work today and my wife stayed home with the kids.  :asleep:

Yeah, we have gone through the rotational medicine before with high fevers/resistant fevers. There's nothing like sick kids to make you feel helpless.

Yep Jeff,  Hope things are going better for the family.  There's nothing like being sick, to even turn some of we adults (although this is quite arguable) back into children too...  I become a wuss when I'm sick.  I mean a bigger wuss than usual.

awe kappy...I would never call you a wuss cause you were sick...I would call you "adult challenged"  and that would only be temporary until you could get back to your womb.... LOL

Hope you are feeling better..Believe it or not while you were sick so was Rich and so was a friend of mine in Seattle...so that crap was spanning the entire country.....

Both kids are doing well. My son got a little sick about two days after my daughter. Now my son has a new dilemma. He for some odd reason went through some sort of anxiety thing about going back to school. (He's in the second grade) The first day of school he felt a little tummy ache the night before. I took three hours off to bring him to his first day of school. In the morning he was crying a little and was worried about going to school. I took him to school and brought him to class and met his teacher etc and went on to work. That day at the end of work I pulled out my cellphone and noticed 10 calls had been missed.  (not good and these kind of things always worry me - we're not allowed to use our cell phones or even pull them out really) So I call my wife and find out Drew is home and that he had gotten sick in the boys room and then in his class in front of everyone. Then he cried until they called my wife and she came all the way from San Antonio to pick him up. The next day I woke up and told him he could go in two hours late because he was saying he didn't feel good in his tummy still. Then...he comes and asks me in sort a frantic way that he wants to stay home just today and that he will go to school the next day and can he please stay home because he thinks he doesn't feel good. I totally let him off the hook and said, okay even though i had already told my wife he was going in at 10AM.  The next day he is crying at 5:00 in the morning and I wake up and tell him, no he can't stay home again. I drive him to school and he is crying all the way to school and even when we get out of the car and are walking with my daughter to the school he never stops crying. I keep telling him to stop and that he doesn't want his classmates to see him crying again. (One of his classmates called him a crybaby after he threw up in class and he had cried)  We wind up taking him to the school nurse and I tell him that if they send him home again he may never come back to school, that he is so fragile and ready to fail that he needs to stay the whole day in school. The nurse says she never told my wife that he needed to go home despite puking twice. (He never had a fever). So we agree to leave him in class and that I will call and check on him during his lunch. The teacher calls me back and says he was fine, having a great day and when he comes home he says school was fine like nothing ever happened.  Then, of course the next morning, same thing.  Anyway, today he didn't have me there to drop him. The babysitter had to do it and he had another day of the morning cries but the sitter said he did very well when she dropped him. Anyway, anyone else have a a kid with this type of problem? I guess it stems from the fact that he threw up in front of all his classmates and that someone called him a crybaby but I was just begging him to try harder and not worry so much. What I worry about is that one of his classmates might actually decide to pick on him a bit and that then he may really not want to go back for good reason. Sorry so wordy...

Well, I'm sitting here on the karaoke forums and subbing songs, and making comments, but I was supposed to be mowing the lawn...now it's hot. Can't wait for that cold front.

Last night went to the Draught House for a couple cold microbrews and then saw the movie 'The Descent' - LOL!

Bill

Jeff - It sounds like there is more going on there than you know about.
You a appear to be a very caring father. If it continues and you can't figure out
why he is acting this way I would take him to someone. He may have a social phobia.
My daughter is 19 and has struggle with what they refer to as group anxiety all her life. It has been so bad at times she would get hives and go into a cold sweat that would soak her clothing. We did not figure out she had this problem until she was 15.
All the signs were there when she was little, but if you don't know what to look for you just think your kid is looking for attention or acting up.

Who knows your son may just be going through a little phase of insecurity. Trust your instinks as a parent. I think I knew deep down something wasn't right with my daughter, but people would tell me it was just a phase. My daughter has other issues too. It took a long time to figure out what was wrong and how to get her treatment, but she is doing fabulous now.

What beers did they have Planet Dweller?  Thanks for thinking of me working 5 to 5 on my new shift from  :reddevil:

It's nice getting off at 5 but the whole getting up at 3:45 thing is almost more than my poor heart can stand. Yikes!

Both of my kids may have some social phobias to some extent. My daughter got extremely afraid when we went to my son's Christmas singing in the park deal. She was so scared I could feel her heart beating through her jacket. All those people in a big crowd she just wasn't used to. That could be normal, hard to say.  The extent of her fear was a little much though I think.

Drew I think is just having problems socializing. He doesn't play with friends out side of school much and so he is totally unprepared for all of the social upheaval of going back to school after three months at home. He has problems with knowing what to say to these kids etc. (or so I believe from the few words he would say about it) -dunno- If the problems persist I'll get him to a councelor. He's doing much better right now thanks to a 1 hour talk I had with him about all of this. I basically told him that when I was young I was very quiet and shy and never knew what to do or say in public etc. It was true at least to some extent and I think it was what he needed to hear also in a way. It helped him realize that maybe it's normal to feel a little abnormal. I told him the best way to get over that kind of thing is to test your fears and say something regardless of whether it may be right or wrong. I went on to tell him that what used to bother me about making an as's of myself now just makes me laugh.  I've lost the ability to embarrass myself for the most part and karaoke helped me through much of that too, later in life. I made an (@$%&#!) out of myself so many times at karaoke I used to do it on purpose sometimes. (Not so much anymore) -at least not on purpose  :worship:

The Descent? Well it was...hmmmm - LOL! Ok, it did have some scary moments - mainly some of those quick screen flashes with sound effects that startle the crap out of you. It was a little interesting, but mostly lame. In the scary parts where the creatures were attacking I was mostly laughing! I guess I just have an odd sense of humor, but it just takes a lot more mental horror to scare me than that stuff. After you've seen a few zombie movies - it all kind of looks the same.

Saw our gallery shots? Jeff posted one - not too good of me, pretty good shot of him though. I think that was at Stardust. Probably NOT the night I tried to sing Man In The Box by Alice In Chains. That was funny as I totally hosed it. Something I don't do a lot anymore. Thought I knew the song just from the cd, but at least people jumped on stage and assisted me - LOL!

Did you see my pics in the gallery? I have one of the San Juan Mtns and of the South Plains tornado.

Hey girl, you need to sub some music. I've got nearly 30 out there now!

PS: Did finally get the grass cut.

They had some more new ones. One was called Red Planet, but I didn't like the after taste. They had that Robusto Porter again that I got last time we were there. It's the really thick one - thicker than Guiness me thinks. It was a bit tough, so then I got a St Arnolds Amber and called in a Conan's cause the idiots closed the kitchen early again. They also had Weizenbock that you liked, and Weizenheimer Weisse.

Sure wish they'd bring back our favs like Vanilla Porter, Hammerhead Stout, Bedelle's Brown, and Kilkenny Cream Ale. I'm gonna have to email that brewmaster as he is driving me crazy!

Anyway, Denise and I just sat out and chilled in the parking lot. It was nice. But Jeff my friend, I always think of you at the Draught House...it's our place man! I was drinking them for ya, cause I knew you couldn't.

Perhaps we can hit some tennis balls soon. Been watching the Open, and Agassi still hanging in there.

I had a crazy hair the other day, and was even thinking about grabbing a ticket to the open. I could get one but courtside seats on finals day go for like $2700. The time to buy for next year is now, and they are much cheaper. So maybe we should check out the US Open next year.

It's been over a month since anyone posted here so I thought I would revive the largest thread.

So all you newbies that haven't seen this thread.  Do you sing in hopes of picking someone up?

I don't remember what my original answer was to the question and honestly I am too lazy to look for it.  It could take me a week of reading to find it.  So I will just answer the question again:

I don't sing to in hopes of getting picked up.  I sing cause I love to sing, It just happens that people try to pick me up all the time.  Kinda sucks..But then having to get up and sing has saved me quite a few times from people trying to put "the moves" on me.

Yes, I say people cause i get it from men, women and even couples sometimes.....I think I may have to have the tatoo that is on my forehead removed...it says "HIT ON ME PLEASE" LMAO  LMAO

This thread has been languishing...had to bring it back   LMAO

And...since I don't recall my original answer to this question...since I've been unemployed, I haven't gone out much.  Last time was our get-together at Mary's a few weeks ago.

But...first-dates with my two most recent g/f's has been karaoke...so it's worked occasionally
