I heard it Chuck, quite honestly, pretty bad IMHO for a Les Paul that is. I don't think it has the body mass of the older LP Standards, Customs, Deluxes, Etc.. I doubt it could really be classified as being close to a traditional LP by any stretch of ones imagination. I need to read more about it, see if it's solid wood, or has hollowed Chromyte chambers (that gibson started using quite a bite to lighten their guitars), I wonder if this is an Import, or American made Gibson... Need to look into it. Gibson is turning out VERY affordable imports these days and according to many Epiphones are better in some cases. I'm at the point now where, I'll listen to it, NOT look at the brand on the headstock, and if it sounds good, is reasonably constructed names these days can be misleading. Paying alot also never assured a commensurate quality guitar in quite a few cases...I've always liked Yamaha, and Epiphone to be quite honest... They make some really nice sounding affordable intruments..
Similarly, some of the less costly "Squire" Fenders are really nice sounding instruments that'd make a great holiday gift for a kid... Loads of affordable NICE guitars... Peavey of course makes a dynamite affordable line and has for ages.. As does Samick (who makes a vast majority of guitars for the big US import line)..
My point is, for under 200 an amp and lessons, a person can sound everybit as good playing, as he would if he had a 2000 guitar.. I can too for that matter..
I buy name because I'm a collector only.. I suppose an overgrown child too, that always wanted these names as a kid, but can now afford them

When I taught I'd tell parents to decide on a budget affordable for both a guitar and small amp... Go into a local large enough music store, and let the kid try guitars in that price range.. If it's comfortable to play, and he or she likes the sound.. It's a good guitar..
(Naturally I also informed them to take the money they saved, and spend it on a really nice guitar for me, Kappy, and too make things easier I gave them a list of options)

www.pajamagram.com
Yup, they deliver pajamas (big selection) right to your door, just like sending flowers; you can order up til Sat 12/22 at 2pm for delivery before Christmas.
It's a unique gift and shows a bit of thought. My sisters and I got one for our mom, she's gonna love em :hi5:

Staples has free S&H and believe me they are LIGHTENING quick until the 26th. Great specials. New Egg has such good customer service they send thank you notes.. great products... Overstock.com be careful ONLY because a lot of their products are refurb and unless you KNOW your market you aren't often getting a good price.. Sometimes however you are... buyer must know their market ! XPbargains is a great reference site where techs do all combined coupon and rebate birddogging for the consumer. Blair dot com is a great clothing site that frequently has free shipping and handling specials and very affordable clothing. I get nothing personally by sharing these sites that I've personally had positive experiences with, so this is ONLY sharing info with friends about safe-haven sites I can vouch for personally, good products, good prices, excellent return policies.
One of many sites I use is dealnews

Matt,
Have you ever checked out XPbargains dot com ? It really seems to be quite a thorough site, and it's laid out well for easy referencing IMHO. Curious as to your opinion vs other comparable sites.

no, I don't go all over the web. Other than my own site that I buy things thru now, I use that pricewatch.com site for my needs for electronics.
I'll check it out, though!

pricewatch is excellent btw ! Thanks. It's concise, and couldn't be easier in terms of layout ! That is a site I would assume all that shop on the Internet would wish to have bookmarked.
