My mind is still in Chapter 7, and my credit bad from playing the market, I can't reorganize either
I prefer longer term, NON-rollercoastering dealings... I don't have the stamina anymore...
I think I've graduated to something I can develop some equity in, a pet rock. Not as many extraneous costs, easier bond to keep long term , and much more stable an investment in general, years later the interest returns are much higher with the rock !

So much for the investment thread. They've even "bought" Eben now
It appears that appreciating ASSets has been taken into a new context. I'd make mention of laws of diminishing returns on certain investments, yet that might not be a great idea.
Touche Steven, that is one of best run of puns I have seen on this forum, definitely on this thread.

Eben, I have to look into carry over loss on my taxes this year. I had 22,500 carryover loss for 2004.. I wonder if I am allowed 3000 per year, and for how many years ?

Such a Market, especially on pre-1970's assets seldom remain solvent.
Dana Corp in Toledo Ohio is now in Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Is that defacto-bankruptcy vs Chapter 7 which is actual ? Chapter 11 means reorganization, and creditors can't attach them ? I'm confused regarding when a Stock goes 11 vs 7.

It used to be the carry over goes like 5 years forward and 3 years back or something close to that but I have no idea if that applies anymore. As far as I know, chapter 11 is reorganization so creditors can not touch assets and chapter 7 is the defacto bankruptcy so the company is being liquidated. The stock has nothing to do with bankruptcy, the company does. The stock only represents the ownership of the company. Usually, the trading goes on during chapter 11 but during chapter 7, they stop all trading to figure out how to liquidate the assets. I may be wrong on some facts but that's what I remember how it works.

It appears that appreciating ASSets has been taken into a new context. Well, shoot, people always abandon their poor threads. We just try to keep them thriving until someone comes in and rolls them back around to the original topic. Until my ASSets start DEpreciating, , I'm gonna play the market. LOL I doubt your assets will ever depreciate............

Been a good week so far for the international stock funds. The dollar was down overnight, so I jumped in with both feet, also put 50% in US small caps to take effect at market open in AM, they dove yesterday and today, so they should rebound in AM for at least one day-maybe two....I figure things will die off by this time next month and remain dull till Oct/Nov, so I need to make $$ now....It's been a great first quarter for small US caps and international stocks, but it's about over I'm afraid.
Oil prices are holding back the DOW..It's trying to bust thru, but there is too much uncertainty over Iran/Israel/US issues and possible oil shortages due to politics and possible war...China is churning and continues to crank up it's economy, but they are hoping for no disruption in oil shipments due to possible US/Iran/Israel conflicts in the Gulf...China is getting more and more able to pay higher prices for mideast oil, so don't expect oil to come down in price, war or no war..... Also, If the US and Iran or Israel and Iran exchange shots, it will include a sea battle and that will lock down oil shipments thru the straits of Hormuz...even a short term disruption there will cause major price increases and shortages worldwide....Israel is pressuring us to shoot first again....They, as usual, say if we don't attack, they will....So watch the news.....If you see us or Israel fire on Iran, then expect $4-5 gas instantly.
Summer travel season is upcoming, so is possible war with Iran, and so is the Gulf of Mexico hurricane season...Either can cause oil/gasoline shortages....So watch the news and the weather and look for huge increases in gas costs and possible shortages this summer.
If you are in the market, be aggressive now, but be ready to pull out end of May if not sooner.

With the money that your work will save with having the lawn cut they should give you a raise for riding your horse to work....
