Who started karaoke on computers anyway
Cavs with the player that would play cd's or mp3+mcg, encoder for ripping and decoder for burning. Original cost $150... Then the cdg plugin for Winamp came along and the rest is history.
I think she doesn't know what the CAVS Jukebox or JB-99 is. kameragurl, it's a physical player that would allow you to put the disc in, and rip to a hard drive on the player itself. Then you just pressed in a five digit sequence of numbers for each track.
The JB-99 had a lot of sequence errors, for there was a lot of highlighting drag. Many of today's dvd players that play karaoke cdgs do the same thing when trying to play a song... they have trouble with keeping the words highlighted in comparison with playing on a cd+g machine that's MADE for that stuff. I've even heard of the same problems with the updated machine the JB-199 too!
That was the original point behind my post on the cost of the players. There's some acesonic machines that are okay, but I just don't trust the cd+g players if you ever had to replace the trusted triple tray, or even the old Pioneer twin tray machines.
