I was called frail because I don't like a lot of sexual content in the posts.
I wasn't offended by any means by this comment. Harmless flirting is cool.
We are all just having fun. I was wondering what you gals thought about this.
I think there is a line that needs to be drawn. Woman need to be treated with respect.
I would like to think I'm the type of gal a man would take home to his mother.
Don't get me wrong, I think the guys here treat us for the most part respectfully. And it does seem the nasty posts get deleted. I have never complained. But if someone seems to be crossing the line with me I say something. I don't think that makes me frail.

The opposite is actually true; it makes them look stupid and childish. Disrespect is one of societies’ biggest problems today. Does it make you frail? No, most certainly not.

I agree with the points that ShyGuy is making here. But it seems everybody makes their own choses up here. If you want to go along with the guy/girl flirt game then you go ahead and play it. If not, then exit stage right in a hurry. At times there are some totally uncalled for personal comments that get made for sure.

When I first read this, I thought maybe someone called you frail BECAUSE of a sexual unnuendo you didn't like...... but I found where it was said..... and it was in reference to vulgar movies. The opinion you voiced in that thread doesn't make you weak... it makes you humane.
As to the sexual content that flies here.... lordy, I guess I'm not one to comment on that. I play with the worst of them sometimes. BUT.... I would never flat out disrespect someone either for what they DO say, or what they REFUSE to say in the forums. Some are comfie with it, some not.
A few times.... it has gotten a bit aggressive.... and things were said that should have been retracted. (dang, but why does nobody else use that "had to edit" feature we have here? It comes in handy) :D
But just because YOU don't LIKE it..... doesn't make you FRAIL..... it just means you have a bit of a different personality than some here do. Nothing wrong with that, it takes all kinds to make up a forum.
(HAD TO EDIT WHAT WAS WRITTEN HERE..... SORRY)
But that being said.... I do think you misread that comment made to you. I don't think that is exactly what he was pointing out.... he just included the fact that you ALSO don't seem to like the sexual banter.

Let's take a look at the meaning of frail:
Main Entry: frail
Pronunciation: 'frA(&)l
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle English, from Middle French fraile, from Latin fragilis fragile, from frangere
1 : easily led into evil <frail humanity>
2 : easily broken or destroyed : FRAGILE
3 a : physically weak
Hmmm.....
By definition Babs...You are by means no way frail...You are a single mom, you work in a ROUGH bar and you have a day job too. I myself think you are one tough cookie. Any one who can do all that has ALL of my respect...
I think if you were frail you would have run out of that Rough bar by now screaming...But you don't you continue to go in 3 nights a week and put up with all the crap that you do...I have no doubt in my mind that you are flexing your muscle around that bar on a nightly basis.....You are not frail...
And I for one understand why you do this...IMO you do this because you are a dedicated mom and you are trying to give your kids the best that you can...and if you have to put up with some crap a couple of night to do that...then so be it....I have done the same type of thing myself (in a previos life), to provide for my family.
You go girl!!!!

Quote: Woman need to be treated with respect. Please do not imply that I EVER stated otherwise, because that would be wrong to integrate into what I CONTEXTUALLY was stating to you. As everyone knows, I for one HAVE treated the females here with the same respect as males here. I've never hit on one female here (except Billy).. Now that aside, let's look at exactly what I stated: OK, Since I'm one of the girls here, I think it's only fair I speak on my behalf, and cite exactly what I was referring to. I was NOT referring to rude behavior towards we women being acceptable. That was NEVER implied.. When I was quoting Bab's being somewhat "frail" it was STRICTLY in the context of a person who's stated she's a HORROR FILM buff... It seems paradoxical...Here is a quote from Babs during my "Do you appear as you are in real life here in the forums" thread. Where is "rudeness to women" stated being the problem here ? Bab's states "sexual stuff bothers her in the forums" I saw no mention of rudeness being the particular issue as stated by her.. I was riding on this quote by her a few weeks back. As well as other things that make her uncomfortable.. Quote: Sometimes the sexual stuff in the forum bugs me. That's just me. I am a little conservative. I need to know people better before I can joke in that way. There are to many wierdos out there that can take you seriously - next thing you know you've got a stalker.
I'd say I am myself in the forum. To that I stated the following: (and as you'll see I also included MYSELF in the "frial" category in terms of having problems watching horror content which IS NOT for the weak of heart in ANY means) Quote: I guess I'm a bit confused Bab's. What I don't understand is that you appear, (at least based upon certain things you've stated in KS) to be somewhat frail in terms of your level of tolerance to certain things. You mentioned at one point that even the sexual innuendo, and comments in these threads, (which is general VERY tame compared to most internet venues, nothing graphic is allowed here for instance) tends to bother you.. I just find it surprising, almost paradoxical I suppose, that you "like the horror category".. It's not a category for the delicate viewer in ANY aspect...
Just my own observation, not judging, I'm just surprised that you can tolerate horror, yet someone like me (who's also pretty frail incidently) can not stomach most of the content in the Horror film sections....Closest I'll allow myself to get to horror is the primetime News on TV .... I won't watch that anymore either..
I maintain what I stated in THIS context.. The context of blood and guts, violence, and heavily wrongful sexual activity found that makes the HORROR movie category, the HORROR category, It's not for people that aren't extremely tough-skinned...
Babs DOES NOT by anymeans appear "tough skinned"
I maintain that "I am surprised Bab's likes the Horror category of movies, it's pretty violent in ALL respects)
CONTEXT CONTEXT CONTEXT...... PULEZE GIRLS !!!!

Great, Steven, add the word frial to your list of name calling.
(and btw, could you define that word please, for us less knowledgable folk?) :nana:

Frial (noun)
A ritual held in many cultures, in which judges and jury alike attempt to determine whether or not a very sensitive person is genuinely suited to watching movies in the horror category of film making.

Fragile, delicate, weak..... Yes, You mean to tell me in some ways Bab's hasn't appeared to be more easily scathed by certain events than other folks in here ?
I'm not saying this is wrong, I'm not judging this as a negative characteristic... I am talking about her tolerance towards things that I believe one must have a tough hyde for to handle the HORROR movie category (in general) without tremendous strife.. Not "Classic" Hitchcock horror, but Horror today ! The horror category is filled with violent graphic content, heavy sexual content, and wrong-doing.. It's meant to "shock" the viewer...Lest it would just be "suspense Thriller"....
I mean what I said, no insult, it does surprise me that Bab's stated she likes watching that category based upon the Bab's I've seen speak in here...
Don't forget I place myself in this "frail" category, and I believe I can deal with more graphic content than Bab's, but who knows... I still can't deal with MOST of todays horror... It's designed to be "sick"...

This was taken from the Merriam-Webster online dictionary as was the previous definition. This is the complete version:
frail
One entry found for frail.
Main Entry: frail
Pronunciation: 'frA(&)l
Function: adjective
Etymology: Middle English, from Middle French fraile, from Latin fragilis fragile, from frangere
1 : easily led into evil <frail humanity>
2 : easily broken or destroyed : FRAGILE
3 a : physically weak b : SLIGHT, UNSUBSTANTIAL
synonym see WEAK
- frail·ly /'frA(&)(l)-lE/ adverb
- frail·ness noun
If you go to the link: I hope this works LOL you can here the pronunciation:
http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?b ... &x=11&y=18
And you know what babs, you don't look frail nor do you look tough skinned..I think you have been blessed in the attractiveness department.

Let me ask this..
Based on what we know of Bab's from this room. Is my assumption incorrect here ?
Bab's stated;
Quote: My main point here is I am a horror film enthusiast. I find this strange based on MY own perception of Bab's from what little we know of her in here. She didn't designate classic horror as in "Hitchcock" style. Yet even Edgar Allan Poe "Pit and the Pendulum, Tell tale Heart, House of Usher, Buried ALive.. Uncomfortable movies for many.. Rod Serling was a wiz at alot of the Poe type horror themes, NIght gallery was good, THAT I can see Bab's liking, It's fascinating and not exactly as graphic as TODAYS horror... Look, a little something else about me, for awhile I made a living closing down businesses, dealing with creditors that the owners didn't want to bother with.. I liquidated a video store, and own their classic horror, comedy, and documentary section... I CAN'T watch most of the horror... ... It scares the &*%* out've me, or bothers me... I know what horror movies are made of.... JMO, no biggie What I have a bit of a problem with is how MY use of the word "Frail" in the case of Bab's horror movie enjoyment was twisted into this... I NEVER stated, or implied this Quote: I have never complained. But if someone seems to be crossing the line with me I say something. I don't think that makes me frail.
Please deliniate between what *I* stated, and the topic of this post... they are TWO ENTIRELY different themes.

Yet on topic now... Regarding the separate issue of "flirting" vs "lude, rude, unacceptable" behaviour..
Quote: would like to think I'm the type of gal a man would take home to his mother.
MOST of the males here you might assume "aren't acting like the decent type" are PLAYING in their own way too, ALOT of blatant sarcasm goes on here..A few are the most straight-laced polite males you could know in real life. These are places we play, and play differently... Yet the style is basically the same....Girls play a certain way, guys might feel like "one-upping" the girls innuendo, so what's joking often turns into a game of "Can you top this".. Few accuse you girls of being "teases" for playing in your own way, which to some MIGHT be construed as somewhat "permissive"; yet we understand that this is just having fun, it's NOT the real person.. It's acting out a part...
When the flirting and joking gets into the guys vs girls stuff, (as it OFTEN does since that's part of the game afterall) some of the guys tend to "play hard" too, THIS goes with the territory of sexual humor, and there is a gender assigned role where guy's are SUPPOSED to be the tougher more grotesque jokers LMAO We are fulfilling our part of the responsibility !!....as in you girls saying, "guy's think from their_____", well, do we take offense to that ? OF course not, well Let me think (unzipping pants)...
You girls yourselves have mentioned "blonde moments" and other self deprecating subtleties... What some construe as demeaning women, is most often said sarcastically.. Since we don't know one another really well, it's always important to realize
"STRANGE HUMOR ABOUNDS"....
Alot of sarcasm. and NON-ill-willed humor in here. FEW are genuinely chauvinists.. It's usually in fun.. We don't all play with the same intensity...we aren't always on the same page at the same time, we can't be...
Anyone who see's blatant sexism, racism, or bigotry SHOULD call the person on it.. Yet realize in MOST cases people are trying to be funny, the intent isn't "bashing", it's to PLAY and often "one-up".
My own feeling, (and one of the reasons I like it here so much) is that given the vast array of folks from both genders, MANY religions, and ALL international cultures that can join here, not to mention possibly 4 generations of viewer... this is a VERY tolerant group of big-hearted people, that tolerate ALL types and MANY attitudes and outlooks....Considering this is the internet, I find the way people relate in THESE forums, and solve issues on their own to be remarkable.. People DO get along here..

I purposely didn't mention it was Kappy that made the statement because I
respect his opinion. I didn't like the idea that I was frail, so I thought I'd put the question out there. He assumed I was frail because of a comment I made in an earlier post. This by no means was an attack on Kappy - I hope he knows that.
I don't want to come off like a prude either. When I made my comment about sexual stuff being inferred in a joking manner in the forum, I was stating I like to know people better before that happens. You just have to be careful now a days. Maybe watching so many horror flicks has made me paranoid. LMAO
Kappy - As far as me being frail - I think you should take it back because I could
kick your butt in checkers any time. LMAO

Seriously Bab's. Some of todays horror movies are REALLY REALLY tough to stomach... I was only using the term frail "relative" to the type of content found in alot of that disgusting category of movies.... Many of us, as we get older especially, tend to become abit less tolerant of alot of "THAT" type substance...BLECH, because we see and hear of enough violence, and horror in the natural world, many just don't want to introduce fantasy nightmares into an already nightmarish world I suppose.
From what I ONLY know in here of you, I'd have expected you to be among one of the last people to enjoy, let alone be able to watch many of todays type "horror" flicks... because they aren't decent, or "classic" anymore.... Some of course are, yet not the general category these days... DELIBERATELY perverse grotesque acts are shown for shock factor... I can't watch it, and WON'T.. I'll lose sleep..It also deliberately creates moral delemma's to disturb people.. So my assumption is that this is a category where the harshness you don't like exists in abundance....Now had you said "suspense thriller", or movies with a twist. THOSE I love !... The types that keep me on the edge of my seat, I can imagine you'd like those..."suspense" is a different category..
Remember, it was just MY thoughts, not factual... I was just surprised you enjoyed a category that I CAN'T watch anymore PERIOD.. Because it's guaranteed to make me uncomfortable...
There's plenty I don't understand tho... Another female I know who appears sqweemish, and quite feminine loves the "faces of death" volumes...
Go figger.. I just don't have a clue what's up...
Although a long time ago I did enjoy "Prom Night", and I laughed all the way thru "Misery".. So maybe I'm confused between horror vs "who dunnit" "suspense thriller" stuff...because to me things don't get much scarier than the first 20 minutes of Jenifer 8, and a few of these other suspense thrillers... I need to relook up horror..I'm thinking that a difference between horror today and chiller suspense is that horror is more graphic, and show's things that are tougher to stomach, yet there used to be a classic horror designation, now I don't know how movie ratings distinguish, which is why I assumed horror is just pretty much more disgusting...
..Even a lot of Edgar allan Poe is listed as "thriller" today... I need to see todays definition of what Horror is, many aren't designated horror but "Supsense thriller".. EVen alot of my hitchcock section,,, rear window, Vertigo, either "suspense thriller" or "Classic Masterpiece"....I need to find something that says "Horror" on the box...
OK Cujo, Salems Lot (that was horror alright). The Shining, Rampage (ramirez story), confessions of a serial killer, THe Keep is a combination of suspense, horror and romance..hehe, Hand that rocks the cradle is listed as :Chilling thriller: is that technically HORROR ???? "Last house on the left" one of the top horror films.....even pet sematary doesn't say "Horror" on the box...Hmmm. Dunno

You figured it out Kappy and didn't even realize it.
It is the surrounding content. If it is a good story line and
the seen is done well. For instance the "Saw" movies. They are
creative and well directed. There is suspence in not knowing what creepy
thing will happen and even though it is gory it works. In the Hills have eyes
the rape seens were in poor taste even for a horror flick.
The movie " Jaws" - classic and The "exorcist - classic.
Fiday the 13th part 17 - stupid already. How many movies can you make
killing a bunch of campers.

I have never really understood why if you are offended by what you read why you would continue to read it........I've seen this conversation come up elsewhere and it seems to me that moving to another thread is better than censorship......now directly threatening or stalking should not be tolerated, but flirting between consenting adults........aren't there really enough rules out there?.......
I work in a setting where there are more women than men and where flirting has become an art of sorts......there was an inservice given to all the employees about sexual harassment and such.....it became the basis of plenty of jokes....I'm probably wrong but I think people worry too much and need to loosen up......oh and most of the women I know are anything but frail.....
that all being said I will admit that flirting and such almost killed another site I visit....I don't really understand why, but there are people, both men and women who have a very strong distaste to sexual behavior in such forums......so I have tried to tone down my sexual talk.......I wouldn't want to be banished........I save it for the job and the honky tonks......well I've rambled enough......."don't do anything I wouldn't do!".......my only complaint is I'm not harassed enough, so come on ladies....
