Hey guys!! Im back with a few questions and in need of help to imrpove my sound quality coming out of my speakers. I was here b4 and had great help from the forum and now rdy to spend some more money on my karaoke gig. Its for home and small party setup.

My current setup:
Vocopro mixer da-2808
peavey pv900 amp
2 x mtx thunder pro

Currently the sound coming out is really plain, no bass or anything...mostly tremble i hear. I guess the sound coming out is how it is recorded....how can i tweak that and add some bass to the music and make it sounds full and rich. I was recommended using BBE 362 Sonic Maximizer. Would that help?

Also i had a friend who recently bought a feedback destroyer and he said it works wonferful for him. What would feedback destroyer do for me?

The Sonic Maximizer or a good eq would help a bit, but honestly the speakers being only 12" aren't going to push alot of bass.  You may be better off looking into a small powered 15" sub. although they may be a little more than you planned on spending.  The only thing is if you put an additional processor like the SM or EQ inline, & push up the bass, you may get the result you want, however, you may also be taxing your speakers to the point of clipping.  An processor of these types to actually change tonal characteristics in this manner are generally band aids to the actual problem - which yours is lack of bass.

Feedback Destroyer is a processor that listens to your signal & when it senses a frequency that is getting beyond a certain point, it will turn that particular frequency down, it is not anything that will help bring out the bass.

To increase bass without putting any added strain on the speakers and bringing vocals out I strongly recommend the Aphex204 It is a standard component in stadium and other professional audio applications.

I use this in series with a Bbe 362 They are inserted between the EQ and main fader out.

Although they improve karaoke and "new" recordings they are an absolute must for the old big band 50's and 60's stuff I can make Patsy Cline sound like she is standing there live and Glen Miller in the mood is awesome.

If this is your mixer
http://www.karaoke2go.com/DA2808VE.htm
Then ye you may be better off getting a more pro-grade mixer which will enable you to be able to adjust the individual eq for the mic & the music separately - meaning you can actually bump the bass on the music without affecting the mic.  The mixer you have don't even have any kind of eq on the music channel, just a volume.  Even a Behringer board would make the sound quite a bit better.

This has built in effects, ability to connect 4 mics & 2 stereo sources with a separate channel eq for mics AND music.

The mackie compact mixers provide some good FX We use an Alesis Microverb 4 in conjunction with those Then in series we use a Bbe 362 & Aphex 204 proc.

Is there a unit/platform like that Behringer? I dont want board-type mixer. Say 300-400 dollars limit on the mixer. What would be the best one for that price? The one with eq on mics and music. 2+ mics is nice.

Unfortunately the board type mixers are typically going to give your best sound.  For the component looking type systems, you are going to be going with 'karaoke' labeled products which are generally overpriced & underfeatured.

Could be a choice, at least it has separate bass/treble for mics & music - although all mics are patched through the same eq so if you have one singer that is very trebly & another that is bass heavy, you would just have to adjust to halfway ok sound.

Hate to break it to you, but it's not the mixer, it's the speakers. It's not even the size of the speakers- EV 12" will produce some kickass base.  You just have to upgrade them.

Although I've read some great suggestions, I'd like to add one more as yet unmentioned.

Check the disc manufacturer.   For instance, Singing Machine is famous for it's "flat", featurless versions, better manufacturers ( won't mention names-don't want a thread hijack) make richer fuller versions.   Also, old, dirty,or unevenly surfaced discs can cause this problem, as well as a dirty player.  I would check these things before spending money that you may not need to.

Just out of curiosity, who made the "2004" music disc?

Even though that's true, a decent system you can still extract the bass out to make it sound ok.

We have the $100 MTX speakers you own on our Jukebox in the bar and they bang.

I think they would blow up if you tried to run vocals through them.

I would honestly guess your 1st problem might me you don't know how or have the abilty to properly eq your system.

We have 4 of these speakers using just the output of the jukebox to a BBE882 to a crown XLS402 and it bangs.

Do consider the recomended Aphex 204. I have the older 104 wbb.
Its a real piece of magic. I'm not healthy enough to lug a sub upstairs, the aphex really helps to compensate.

Back off on thoughts of BBE's and Aphex's till you get enuff cone in your cabinets.

Those devices are for tweeking and will quickly overdrive your mains into destruction if you ask them to do what they simply cannot.

I suggest you buy 1 powered and internally crossed 18" sub.....not a 15, but an 18.

Then ditch the Vocopro and get real.

is like saying

That is like saying EQ will further tax your speakers  Any audio proc wiil improve the sound  and you dont have to crank the  volume to get the full sound. I have run  the Aphex 104 into a 3kw bass bin and it did not tax it but it improved the performance 100 %. If you are not familiar with audio procs and don't know how to use them then don't reduce the importance of them.

I don't know that model, but I have the TP-112. Does TP stand for "Thunder Pro"? If it does, they won't blow up and they are very capable of sounding very good. I have Peavey and Behringer speakers as well as the MTX, and they are quite competitive in sound.

They aren't designed to handle as much power as a lot of PA speakers, but they should be an excellent match for the PV900 amp. And there is no reason I can think of that they should have trouble with vocals.

Of the three key items, the mixer is the thing I don't know.

I can agree with this. Two of the TP-112 and 150W/ch fill my 24x20x12 living room, without pushing the level at all. I also have done small outdoor gigs with them. I have gotten nothing but compliments on the sound.

I have now switched to PR-10s and a PR-sub for the same application, but the TP-112 worked fine and I still use them in my practice area.
