I have a VocoPro Duet 80w all in one machine.
Later I went to a local Audio/DJ store and explained my home karaoke use and current machine (above) and that I wanted a little more power and depth for home use. Standard living/dining room 15' x 30' appx.
I was sold last December-
A UB1204FX mixer.
Smart Series Proel Speakers with Speakon connectors. 250w per.
Amp is a Eurorack 1500 2 x 700w.
I may have it set up wrong- sound is not loud or deep. The mics into the mixer can barely be heard. Somewhat better when connected to the all in one player but the clarity and depth is not there.
As you can see, I was clueless on any of this.
The amp/mixer/speakers I know now are for live small gigs where power is needed.
What would someone suggest to upgrade the VocoPro Duet 80w player. Specs state that any external source can be connected. Does it matter that if it is 80 watts or if this limited to certain upgrades?
Thanks for any advice. Learning as I go, the hard way.

The setup you were sold should be 200% better than the original vocopro system.
Did you make sure you are ONLY using the VocoPro system as the player, i.e., you don't still have it hooked up as the amp? The only connector coming out of the VocoPro system should be a stereo RCA jack (usually red and white) from the Audio out of the player to one of the channels on the mixer. The new amp should then be connected to the mixer and the last part of the chain is the speakers connected to the amp.
250 watts should EASILY fill up your living/dining room with good sound....your amp is putting out 260 watts/channel @ 8 ohms, so your wattage is pretty well matched, so that's certainly not the problem....
I would possibly suspect that the amp section of the VocoPro is still in the chain somewhere, and it shouldn't be. You may also try buying a dedicated CDG player to correct this. There are plenty of DVD players at Walmart for around $50-60 that play CDGs. Just make sure the box specifies that it plays CDG format (usually says karaoke compatable on the box as well). Then just play the CDG player through one of the channels of the mixer.
Another thing that may be wrong: What channel on the mixer are you plugging the audio from the VocoPro unit into?? I would bet you are plugging it into the TAPE INPUT section. BUT you will get MUCH better sound if you go buy RCA to 1/4" adapters ($3.99 each at Radio Shack) and plug your source into one of the main channels (5/6 or 7/8 ). This TAPE INPUT is meant to be a monitoring signal, and has a nominal output of 10dBs, while your normal channels have a nominal output of 22dBs, which is significantly louder and receives more amp power = cleaner sound!!
Try these suggestions and let us know what happens.

Another thing, your amp configeration should all be at the factory presets. I doubt you have touched this, but if you have, all of the switches should be set to the left.
As per the mics, I don't know if this is obvious or not, but make sure you have the main L/R sliders on the mixer up to a comfortable level, the mic channel slider up to a comfortable level, and the GAIN knob on the mic channel up to a comfortable level.
The levels I use are NOMINAL (0 Dbs) on the mic slider, just a few ticks above nominal on the GAIN knob, and about -15Db on the main sliders. I then adjust the mic volume with the GAIN knob and leave everything else alone.
Also make sure that the MUTE tap switch on your mic channel (and CDG channel if you get the adapters) is not on and the PRE switch (Pre-fader - for monitoring purposes again) and SOLO switch on each channel is not on.
Also, make sure the phantom power switch (+48V) switch is never turned on. This button sends power to the mic channels, which is ONLY meant for condensor mics and will slowly fry normal mics.

I now have the vocopro plugged into the 5/6 and I am getting much better results , more volume and can use the lo mid and hi knobs to get the improved bass sound. Even recordings straight throuh the vocopro system is much better. Thanks.
It makes much sense now on setting up. With your advice and reviewing the manual again things become more evident. Thanks again.
