Steven Kaplan,
By any chance would you be a Ham Operator, Kinda sounds like it?

Dr. D.  I was a general op.  That was MANY years ago.  I never carried on, or even stuck with the ARRL around here as a novice.

MY Eico 635 doesn't have that Dr. D.   You must have one of the much better models.  Don't some of the Hickok's have that feature ?

I had a Swan 500C rig

10-15-20-40-80 meter as I vaguely recall.

Now I still hold a fascination for the old receivers and transceivers that to me were fascinating as a kid.... Even a 100mw talkie was...Yet kid's today take forgranted things like talking a distance even a short distance with no cords attached,,,, Biggest thrill for me when younger was getting a 5 watt walkie talkie and talking miles away with no cords attached....Even QSL'ing stations at 9 years of age as a SWL, such as HCJB Quito,  Praha Czech, Radio Mockba, Habana Cuba, I had a wall full of QSL cards.. HEck,  especially listening to car AM radio's during sunspots and groundskip periods.....trying to pull in the foreign countries

Even though I was far from religious, there was just something very tranquil about going to bed with a station playing relaxing format with call letter's that stood for Heralding Christ Jesus BLessing. I recall some of the Ham ops in the early 70's we used to talk to were Barry Goldwater, and King Husseine of Jordan.... There were a few others, who currently slip my mind. My High School Call letters were K1UAT, and from there we dx'd some amazing folks.  I personally didn't when home.

Guys something's kind've humorous when you give it any thought.

Remember back in the 60's ?  When you bought a CB radio you didn't get the microphone until you passed was it elements 2,3 and 9 of an FCC test ?

That was for CB,   CW had it's own test of 13 wpm, and other licenses got more detailed...

Today bratty kids pollute the world with their type online however...no licenses needed anymore   :(  I was telling Karyoker in a different thread "cheap thrills" for a few of us after elementary school got out, was sneaking onto the "big kids" base stations, and defying REACT on channel 9 of the 23 channel rigs

Shame for not keeping the license. I have been an Advanced since '78 I forgot what year, but I talked to w5lfl (the ham that went in space) from the shuttle on a 5 watt Ht.

Got Sweden once on Moonbounce on 2 meters, and yada yada yada. My call Is Ki4nq.

Anyhows nice to find people with similar interests, I have been playing keyboards for the last 40 years, and took up guitar a couple of years ago. Now I got a Nice stable of Guitars. When Im not playing on the bands, I am playing with music one way or another.

And remember a "lifetime warranty or guarntee" is only good while that company is in business.

Yeah,  I have quite a batch of electrics myself... The Eico I bought wasn't as much for the radio's, even though the SW receivers were a consideration as mentioned, yet also my collection of tube amps, IE....Ampeg, Marshall, Fender, HiWatt, etc.. Keyboards and synths, yep...Although even that's vintage  :(   Except for the Steinway, and B-3, most of my synth stuff (and keyboard racks) are Arp, Yamaha CP-25 (which I do like incidently) also have the Fender RHodes 73, Wurly EP-200, some older sequential circuits stuff, RMI,  and even something as recent as the Korg X-3  LOL..  Dr. D,  I'm looking at keyboards controllers for audio midi digital interface, M-Audio will have the "Axiom 61 semi-weighted" in which looks OK,  the reviews on the Radium weren't that great according to some, yet I don't know personally...I still want at least semi-weighter or hammer action for even computer interfacing...

Do you know anything about "Studiologic" Keyboards ?  Reason I'm wondering is MF is blowing those out.... Hammer action 88 for $299... Sl-880 pro for 349.... You familiar with either of these makes ?

Tim, that's an excellent point.  Makes perfect sense except some of us DO forget to take that into consideration, A biggie where many were affected was the fold of the computer makers,  My "Cornell" and "Amptech" warantee's were of little good since the companies folded within months of my purchases from them....THat was also a concern I had awhile back regarding Gateway systems.  and Why I opted for Dell... Things looked bleek for Gateway.

You know what I want to find?  A WOMAN that comes with a lifetime warranty!!  If you ever break up, it'll be clean and non-nasty...maybe even get some money back...it could be pro-rated based on the number of years you're together, like they do tire warranties...if she fails to perform as advertised, you can trade her in for a similar model with no penalty...

Sorry...random tangent there   LMAO

Squid,  people in general tend to let you down,  Males and females...

Stick to inanimate objects for happiness... They come thru more often  LMAO ..

Find happiness from within, and stay away from all living things except dogs or cats, pot-bellied pigs, and other critter you can domesticate... Females are meant to be wild...You have to build fences, and all sort've of stuff to keep them....Zoning here doesn't allow for them anyway....Plus they cost alot to keep operating,  they are costly to groom, and medical costs run high.... They also can turn on you, and attempt to take control of your mind.... They are VERY riskly critters to share a home with !

Buy a guitar and get a dog....

You are absolutely correct Dr. D.   It just no longer was high on my list of priorities as I got into other stuff, both good (and bad) while entering what they consider adulthood.  The music interest never died, unfortuneately the fun stuff like chemistry sets, Ham radio, and tropic fish did have to...  I loved my Gilbert Chemistry sets   ...  One of these days I'll tell you about how I survived making explosives.... I should get a bumper sticker..

Did any of  you ever go thru the casing, fusewire, endcap, flash and black power stages of life ?  There was a place called CaseCo down in NJ...I used to order this stuff in those days..... I'll never forget the pharmacists words when I went into the local drugstore and walked out with KNo3, and Sulfer.

"Goodbye Son,  Don't blow your head off"

Couldn't fool Marvin...He knew his stuff..... Guy called my mother too  :(

.
.
I suppose it's normal for males to go thru the gun, and explosives phases of growing up...I ended that stuff early, sold all the guns, and just stocked up on guitars.... Realized I didn't need a gun where I live,  had no need to worry statistically about stuff happening yet in my area, and didn't want a weapon around...  So I awarded myself by going crazy with toys instead...Much safer

Sold quite a few guns I refused to have around...

Does that include the 2 liter glass Coke bottle with dry ice and ammoniac?

LOL Shyguy..

Dr. D.   Yeah sugar can be used, or is used instead in certain pyrotechnic applications. Too much smoke from the charcoal can ruin a display,  charcoal gives off ALOT of smoke, yet the KNo3 will oxidize the sugar too... I never had the best luck, so I stuck with Powdered alum,  and the nasty stuff...

We are talking about lifetime warranties, so I beleive that your post was relevant...So much so that I am replying to it...

Tell me exactly who would I get a refund for on the whole Warranteed Spouse thing...because if that is the case I am owed a lot of money....  I have had 3 of them go bad on me and I had to throw them out....All things are meant to be only temporary aren't they...... :crying2:

Not sure,  I never experienced that. I have to admit though , I'm quite curious as to what it's like to have it.
