Well, since this is about the second all night dream I have had of a personal talk with John Lennon, I thought I would post it. It is all kind of out there stuff. Depends on whether you believe in an afterlife and whether someone of such mega importance would actually in some astral place talk to a humble songwriter me, and give me tips on my songs and his life with the Beatles in general.

This is a common theme for me. And it is quite possible these dreams are simply a combination of articles I have read, films I have seen, and data floating around that put together some type of dream. However, the dreams are very linear, and I remember the conversatons word for word, and sometimes the artists have a few suprises for me which are quite informative. So, I will be quite clear in posting this, I am not claiming to have really talked to the "real" John Lennon. However, I have had these dreams about Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and few about living musicians.. such as Paul McCartney.

Anyway... back to John Lennon. It was fascinating. Because John "in person" gave me insights into his thinking and song writing methods which I never read or really knew to much about. John (the person I talked to) considered himself "the head" of the Beatles.. and yet at the same time he stated he did not ever intend to sound deep as George Harrison did after their trip to India.

I could probably write a book on this (sigh of relief) not here.

Most interesting of course, was the dynamics of the relationship with his two sons Sean and Julian. There is of course a great rivalry between Sean and Julian. There was talk that Julian was much more like John than Sean. Although Sean enjoyed the adoration of his dad until he was five and his father was shot, Julian was the son of the "wife" that John tried to keep in the background so as to not put off his female fans by "being married."

Julian in the 80s in Too Late For Goodbyes was very much the essence of his dad. However in my dream, "John" said that timing in the music business is everything. He spoke of his work with Phil Spectre and how Phil wanted to add instrumentation to everything and Paul heavily resented this. So much so that he later made an album with old songs redone minus Phil's additions.

His feelings for Yoko were so interesting coming from him personally. Yoko was so much bigger than life to John and could not live without her. Yoko's view of herself, not in John's eyes, but in the world of reality was far greater than her actual talent.
And Sean is more the mirror of Yoko than John no matter how hard he has tried to be the "image of John Lennon."

I won't go on too much here. But most interesting to me were John's comments on my music. Now this is gotta be weird. He kept telling me that "I had to find my voice." Also I had to wake up and be aware of the other artists and what they were doing. They were very very aware of the Rolling the Stones, especially Beggar's Banquet, in trying to create a more complex sound.

Sympathy for the Devil, the opening track, with some very tricky rhythmic backing.

John had very deep emotions for Brian Epstein. In fact, when Brian first heard the beatles his eyes were fixed on John, and it wasn't simply a manager fixation.
Brian was driven by a passion far more than it known and a character in Hard Day's night who is dead giveaway for Brian Epstein says "I'll tell them all about you."

Yet fantasy or whatever you would like to call it, my two dreams now talking to what  I guess you can interpret to be whatever you want, with John Lennon is changing my music. I do truly wish I had the voice I do not have, and the suggestion has been made to take what I do have and make it unique and learn to control that quality and develop a consistent style which will then take us on to bigger things.

In my thinking John was obsessed with Yoko, and if there be spirits still,  the obsession was mutual. Yoko is still trying to get there to be a John Lennon Day. I don't think, nor does "John" that Sean or Julian will ever heal the rift. Cynthia to this day is a beautiful woman, and Yoko many times has been spoken of as otherwise.

This did not matter to John. The incredible sexy and emotional Cynthia could not compete with the relentless Yoko.

Is there a rock and roll heaven? Sorry everybody. I never talked to Elvis or Frankie or even Buddy Holly. There will always be an abiding admiration for John Lennon, for he was my role model when I first began performing and touring. Hey, I believe in a lot of spooky things. I play classical piano and sometimes when I play certain pieces I can feel the presence of well.. let's not get too wierd.

Now back to the album and how to make my voice... better.
