All bow your heads my powered mixer, affectionately known as BigBoy.
died Wednesday night.
I hooked him up and no sound came out of the mains. I knew he was getting sick, but didn't know it was this bad. I ran him on monitors only all night. He did his best
on his last night. sniff sniff

Don't worry I'll get him fixed and he'll be a nice back up to my new

808m MACKIE POWERED MIXER! Yeah baby
I went to the guitar center last night and this cute baby powered mixer looked at me with his big baby gray knobs and I had to get him.

I had my first audition of a Mackie powered mixer last week...It was an 808 series...I was really impressed. It looked and felt top quality...Sound was really good too....It's installed in a small church with a very high ceiling. They use it for the preacher and choir and also playback of prerecorded music.

I usually don't have good things to say about powered mixers, but that one impressed me.

Congratulations!...Ain't it sweet to get a new piece of gear?...It sux tho when you have to replace something and not use the money to expand instead, huh?.

I was ticked last week when I thought my mixer had died....I ordered another one and then discovered mine had been "Robbieized"...so I went ahead and bought something else I wanted...I would have never purchased the other thing except that seeing how I had already paid out the money and stopped crying about it, i went ahead and used the $$ for the other thing.

You go, girl!

This is a copy of a review of the 808m I made in a different forum awile back...

At least 6 of my Kj friends have run either the 808m or 808s for it seems like 5 or 6 years. A couple have gone digital and powered speakers but still have their 808 as a backup or second system They are hard to part with and resale value is phenomonal..
One of them I had to replace the output amp transistors in it and they were availible locally with a generic substitution. Another I replaced the big filters in the amp but when replacing them I noticed the connection points on the circuit board were loose but I went ahead and replaced them anyway. As you know the 808 does not have sliders which tend to get dirty and break but I have never seen a bad pot or control on a 808 yet. One had a bad 1/4" input jack but before I could look at it he sold his system..

My impression of the 808 is this.. It is to karaoke as the 30-30 lever action is to deer hunting..They put out the watts and as all Mackie gear pass or exceed the specs..
I would have to give it a 9..

One other thing I might mention In large venues we run mono I actually run l/r into seperate strips wih both panned center. In a large area in the stereo mode there is only one sweet spot not so with mono... The 808m can be hooked up for stereo if absolutely needed but the monitor amp is sacrificed.

Wow - that makes me feel even more special.
I used it last night and it rocked. The sound is great!
I'm running my player through the 7 & 8 channels as to not sacrifice
my monitor. I don't know why that guy didn't think of that.
I do like sliders better on a sperate mixer, but I have to keep things light.

My dream set up would be way to heavy for me to handle. If I had a venue where
I never had to tear down I would definitely have a  mixer and a power amp., instead of a powered mixer.
