I havnt worked on one of these since they first started making them so I'm curious what they have inside now.. Of course when I get done with it it wont resemble anything original it will be souped up a little... And I know a little guy about 5 who really wants his own player

Hmmm, $30 for one at Walmart...interesting. Can you provide a link as to which Walmart or any other place for that matter that has that particular model Singing Machine SMG-301 for $30?

This was all I found at Walmart... Naturally I promptly ordered the Barbie Karaoke Guitar..... That's a steal ! I'll get lucky for sure now ! Now to purchase that Stetson hat..
Sounds like fun Karyoker, with your technical ability you'll have that fixed up better than new.... Will make an exciting $20 gift for a youngster ~
(Not to mention this is a fun little project for you as well.)

I am a Wal-mart customer from the word go... But that woud be too easy buying one that works (maybe) I didnt mention I am parting out a JVC XL-Sc22 so that sing along might get some better components I just havnt decided whether to put put the sing along in the JVC case or part of the JVC in the sing along case...I got an old Wurlitzer juke box I could put eveything in it and charge a nickel a song... Decisions ....

Walmart has nothing... Of course for around $50, the old industry standard is available..

That sounds like the kind of gift my grandfather would've bought me when I was 5 Of course when I reached 6...He'd raise that to a quarter !

The only thing is the most you could set the old ones is 3 songs for a quarter...The idea of charging a quarter a song was totally unfathomable and the days of td rowes or mars dollar acceptors were way in the future.. Not to mention the first coin operated cigarette machines.....

Earliest I recall were the diners..... Ciggies 35 cents a pack... Sometime in the 1960's... Don't recall when... Probably when VW Beatles were under 2K...(or was it 1K they were under in the early-mid-60's... I don't recall) I was too busy watching Honey West, and My Mother the Car...

Got it in yesterday... The rca gang plug in back had been torqued enough to crack the ckt brd about 2"... Repaired with wire splices soldered across the cracks.. The player had a half broken cd inside which forced the optics assembly arm out of the lift cam... Remounting it solved that problem Everything works........ Some kid is gonna be happy....
Last year I bought a jbl eon 15 PAK $75.The seller indicated it needed a diaphragm for the horn which it did..It also needed the input ckt brds and cable harnesses which I got from JBL So for about $175 I got a speaker which is the same as the 1st generation eon... Yea I know it aint exciting as some of the things I've worked on but it still provides the same satisfaction

Karyoker, Depending on how adventurous you feel, I did take a look at that Ebay Site, and the seller seemed to have PLENTY of stuff that needed some TLC... Some of that equipment was pretty decent.. Could be an interesting challenge.. I stay away from that stuff personally, because I was the type of kid that went into Heathkit, spent MORE for a decent kit than the finished product usually costs, ASSUMED it'd be something easy even I could do... Opened the kit when I got home, saw all those little pieces, and FREAKED
I'd be puzzled sitting in front of the Radio Shack 50 in 1 home electronics kit... (ages 4 and over)
