Although  the comment was offencive (sp)  I agree totally with you now liquideye. It dosent make sense to spend that much and practicly Negate the great Mic Pre amps that come with the bose system.
Darn I need to learn how to spell

The system seems to work good and sound great at the moment but your comment got me wondering how much better it would sound by replacing the berringher with a better quality mixer.

any Ideas beside's the Yamaha mixer? I want total Quality atleast 6 Input's with great mic preamps. and I want something someone has used not just read the spec's
Thanks
Michael

from what I have heard and seen Yamaha now has some excellent mixers. I have not been able to play with one but I have heard some really good comments from KJ's who have.

I personally still prefer Mackie boards. DFX12 would be easy on your pocketbook
CFX12 would be the next step up the line from there. Both have effects.

Somtimes things don't always come out right. I'm sorry if I pissed you off before.
If you want true quality I Suggest an Allen and Heath Mix Wizard. I'm not a huge fan of Mackie Mixers, I love the Speakers just not mixers. They are over priced for what you get out of them. I think the Yamaha MG series has better preamps than the Mackie DFX or CFX. A friend did a perm instal for Karaoke in a bar last week and put in the Allen and Heath Mixer. It is just a nice as their pro studio mixers.

So depending on the budget The Allen and Heath or Just an upgrade to the Yamaha MG will make a big difference. I also suggest using top quality cables, I use all Monster cable.

I use the Yamaha MG16/6fx, and its good, but for your need maybe an MG8/2fx. I must say I have never A/B an MG  with a Mackie.

hmmm why do big bands play $1000.00 guitars and use a 25 cent guitar pick?

Probably because they don't see the point buying a more costly Gibson, or Custom shop Fender, american made PRS, Hamer.. Even Charvel San Dimas line, etc...decent Parker Fly, Variax etc. (I haven't looked lately, but I believe the American Standard Strat's run close to about $900-1K delivered now-adays. Not sure, fifteen years ago my last purchased AS strat ran me over $650). Also the days when we played funk on our Ovation Breadwinner's, and tele's using a dime for a pick are long gone, $2.99/dozen Fender moto picks is what I pay, Everyone know's the white moto picks give the best tone... LMAO

Sorry Michael,  I'm a vintage guitar/amp collector, and a wise-guy !   I had to chime in with my wise-ass comment  :hi5: .. I'm glad you are happy with the Bose system. Sounds like you made a great choice.

Incidently, to the VERY few that don't already know this, trashing another person's taste's to make your point is NEVER a good thing to do. At best it makes you look arrogant, and pretentious.  If a person doesn't ask for my opinion, I don't impinge it !   Even in that case, a little bit of tact never hurts !  If someone is happy with a system or component's they've purchased, and they wish to share their excitement, why rain on their parade ? (Heck, today I'd love to have an income that could afford A&H quality mixers, yet I do not. Other expenses in life)

:2cents:

Being someone that used to work for Guitar Center and has sat through a couple of training sessions with Bose reps, I just though I would throw in my two cents.

I think the Bose PAS is a great system.  I have never tried it for karaoke, but if It weren't for the price, I would really like to.  The sound carries VERY well throughout the room, without being overpowering when your close to the room.  Feedback becomes a thing of the past.  You can hold a mic up to the tower and not get feedback.  Not to mention the ease of teardown and setup.  I would buy a second subwoofer for it though.  Only $300 more, and they're not that big.

I will say this though, the Bose reps that I have met talk the thing up like it's a miracle worker, and every other PA out there is crap.  It's good, but it's not that good.

Oh, and as far as the Bose mic preamps go...  Unless you are plugging a mic straight into the unit, those are pretty much useless.

PS - I use a Mackie DFX12 mixer.  On the low end of the mackie spectrum, has built in effects, 12 channels, and suits me just fine.
