IM WORKING ON PUTTING MY CDGS INTO A HARD DRIVE, I USE AUDIO GRABBER, MY QUESTION IS, DO YOU SUGEST USING NUMBERS FOR EACH SONG ALONG WITH THE ARTIST AND TITLE ? AND IF I DO NUMBER THE SONGS UNDER WHAT TAG LINE DO I INPUT THE NUMBER?

ALSO, I ALREADY HAVE A BUNCH OF SONGS IN THE HARD DRIVE, NOT TOO MANY BUT WHEN I SEE THEM IN THE HARD DRIVE WITH WINDOWS EXPLORER ITS JUST A BUNCH OF TRACK NUMBERS, IS THERE A WAY THAT I CAN INPUT THE INFORMATION INTO THE TAG BEFORE RIPPING SO THAT WHEN I VIEW IT WITH WINDOWS EXPLORER  I GET TO SEE THE ACTUAL TITLE OF THE SONG OR ARTIST, INSTEAD OF JUST A TRACK NUMBER?

I just right Click and Change the file name and add a number to the front  after I import it to audio grabber. like

For song's in the hard drive just right click and Rename the file.

I use KJPro and a database "renamer".

Before that, I did as described above... right-clicked, and renamed the file. And both files need to be the same name, otherwise the mp3+g aspects won't work!

What I do is first check the box for compilation disk then I manually enter all the song names and artists, then I use the manufacturers number as the album title.  After filling in all of the information goto settings and click the advanced box for naming and fill in this information. %2-%3 - %1 - %4.  That will end naming the files like SC8933-01 - Keith, Toby - You Ain't Leavin'.cdg and .mp3.  After that I use MP3+g Toolz to batch zip the disk and I'm done.  Yeah you have to manually type the titles and artists but if you are only doing 1 disk it takes about 2 minutes.

Or using that KJPro, you pull up the cdg autonamer program that links off the kjpro database... and poof. disc after disc after disc renamed.

Last night I had to rip three whole discs that weren't in the database! I literally was going "Oh MAN!!!"  But like Pkircher said, it only takes a few mins. Ripped thru audiograbber, then I named the mp3 file, and then highlighted that whole name and RENAMED the .cdg file.

Then I use mp3toolz to zip, and THEN unzip to folders! !

As I get ready to rip CDG's for my own setup I'm going to set it up just like my current albums for dj'ing.

Manufacturer\Disc Number\Track# - Song title - Artist.mp3/cdg

I plan to do mine this way so I can use my existing books now and in the future.  If I have to revert back to discs for any reason I can do so without the customers actually knowing there was a problem other than a slightly longer musical break between singers.

That aside, use whatever works for you.

the one thing to remember though is to use a "standard" naming procedure.

Many of today's software tools that are commercially being put out for "hoster" type programs don't recognize special characters such as & , ' " / * % $ # @ ! and a few others. On another forum, people trying to import their tracks that they have nowadays are getting errors left and right and the software is aborting...

Most of these programs are intended for you to use from the beginning. You have to either rename your existing tracks or go through tons of support issues in trying to use them by "importing" them at a later date.

Oh, BTW, it is considered SHOUTING if you use all CAPS in a post on the internet. Just FYI on some "netiquette".

All CAPS should only be used for emphasis or acronyms, like BTW, FYI, etc.
